2012 Biturbo Initial Observations
Car history: E55, E63 Normally aspirated, Jaguar XFR - now E63 Turbo - 550 hp version.
Picked up today.
I like it!
Engine feels quite strong, car is fast, although not scary fast. But faster and stronger than either the E55 or NA E63 (not surprising with 590 lb-ft of torque).
Car rides and handles well. Transmission still is too lethargic. Definitely could sharpen up the shifts, especially in manual mode. Quite good in automatic mode.
Feels like a strong luxury, comfortable car, which I am sure is AMG's objective.
I would have preferred a bit more of an edge to it, at least in Sport + mode - (the original E55 - the "monster" - had a bit of an edge in my opinion).
Anyhow, off to break it in !!

Rebadge it as an E55 TT.
Seriously I think the tcu and turbo lag programming is off a bit based on my and AMG's drive of theCLS on track.
Never buy the first year of a car....

Ya, but not the first year of production for the car. Powertrain has been used before, as has the rest of the car - just not together. The powertrain has been in other AMGs since the 2011 MY.

the powertrain has only been in 2012 cars, the cl63 is essentially a 12 car, just an early one
the PT is still less than a yr old
doenst mean its bad, or anythign wrong withthat

did you have to pay the gas guzzler tax? initial inidcations were that no Gas guzzler tax. However, when I ordered my 2012 E63 last month, it showed up on the price. Curious if when the car actually came, it had the tax or not. would be interested in seeing pricing on your options as well.
Thanks

Happened to ask around just as some cars were getting off the boat. This one was not spoken for, so I took it. My only stipulation was that it had to be a dark color and have the 550 hp package.

Base price $99K, (going from memory), Performance Package about $8K, and I had a couple of fairly useless $4k options for trim, lane departure stuff etc. Total price $115K before taxes, PDI etc.
Less than I had paid for my 08 E63 and 05 E55!

Thanks for the info. It's funny we all have our differences on what stuff is considered must have versus useless
All those safety features is what put me on the road to replacing my perfectly fine 05 E55. Then it came down to whether I wanted an E550 or an E63. I am sure I could take the E550 and get a lot of additional HP out if it but I know this sounds stupid. The one thing I could not give up and pushed me into the E63 are the AMG seats. My car is a joy to drive long distances and I simply could not give that up
