An Oil question
Hello.....
been enjoying the hell out of my e63.....
today I got a message saying 'check oil level' and
it said to check it at my next fueling......
anyone ever get that?
do our cars burn more oil?
anyone have any thoughts?

It's telling you, you are about (1) quart shy.
I usually use 10-40 european formula Mobile 1 synthetic. Which is what dealers use now, even though our cars came with something like 0-40 or 5-40.
I eat up about 1 quart or so every 3-4k miles. So I usually just have an extra mobile 1 bottle around and dump it in once, then the next time its usually time for an oil change.

thanx guys, you guys came through faster than my ****ing SA!! LOL
the manual does say new cars and fast driving will consume some more.....
the dipstick didn't come right out so I left it in, as I had a choice! haha....
my mileage is just above 3K now, was thinking of changing it actually....
but a quart would be much better for now.....
you guys change yours before the scheduled A?

I keep a bottle and some paper towels in the trunk. I plan on changing oil every 5,000 miles, so once before the scheduled service. A guy on the BMW forum did an oil analysis at 2,000 miles in a n/a non M car and concluded it was not necessary... Hope that helps a little.

got some oil in there: less than half a Q of 0w 40...
the dealer said if that didn't help, it could be a sensor....
I have not gotten the message again since adding more oil....
but still thinking about going in, if it acts up again...
