2012 E63 WITH PP OR NO

how much stiffer is ride in e63 with PP i'm talking when in comfort or sport is it that much diffrent or close. i know easy way is to drive both back to back but i can't find dealer thats has both in 2012. i have panamera 4s now and found seat so hard there making my back hurt so bad. i had 2010 e550 and love the car and seat could have drove in for hours.
thanks

Its not like there is a standard roughness meter to go by--- its entirely subjective. So without driving the car I really cant tell you what YOU will like more. But since you posted Ill tell you that the PP suspension is about 1 click stiffer than the non PP AMG car. EG: comfort in a non PP is sport in a PP and sport in a non PP is sport plus in a PP and so on.

I own a non PP E63 (2010) and a PP CLS63 (2012). The suspension om the CLS is stiffer but I actually like the feedback in compression and rebound better in the PP. Ill forgo comfort for function. If you like the E550 suspension then maybe either of the AMG's will not be for you as I believe that the AMG suspension is tauter than that of the 550. To me my E63 (prior to lowering) was softer (than the CLS) but still fairly planted and compliant in short turns and big bends.

thank you i know the cls is a bigger car only by 4 or so inches but when driving it do you feel the diff in the 2 cars as for as size. meaning when you throwing the car into a corner or quick lane changes are those 4 inches that noticeable. i feel the panamera feel very big when driving and i don't remember that feeling with the e550 thanks vic

The E's chassis is a more tossable car but the PP suspension really does firm up the CLS. I think the magazines have the CLS turning in a pretty good skidpad and slalom time(s).

Since the CLS is faster Ill say this... if the power (hp and tq) was the same along with the suspension, the E would be the better handler in tight corners. But I feel the heavier CLS would remain more planted in high speed bends (over 100 mph). But with the PP on the CLS it really is quite formidable for a 4200 lb plus car and I feel very confident with it not only in higher speed turns but sharp short turns and quick lane changes. The steering on the CLS is rock solid with slight understeer.

During a recent AMG event I drove both the 2010 E63 and the new 2012 E63 with PP. As Vic is pointing out the suspension is noticeable stiffer than the outgoing model and driving them back to back the 2010 felt like a boat in comparison.

Having said that driving the new PP in C mode was still very comfortable. You feel the road and retain more feedback than the old model but it's definitely not bone jarring un comfortable.

I realize all this is subjective and I plan to drive both the 2011 and 2012 E63, but just curious how they compare to driving the lighter and non-adjustable C63? In your opinion that is.

I have a 2009 C63 and am debating picking up an outgoing 2011 on a good deal or waiting for the 2012.

I've driven a 2011 E550 and it definitely felt softer and more boat-ish. But its meant more for a luxurious drive.

i'm still thinking about this 2011 jag xkr 175 i can get a sick deal on it only has 2100 miles and i can get it for $22000 of msrp. but not sure if i want a coupe but everyone says that car is a dream on long trips. i drove it it's a beast and seemed comfortable. I'm just not 100% sold. it's between the jag, 2012 e63 and the 2012 cls63 i already had the e550 and i get bored quick so i'm a little gun shy on the E63 but theres somthing about the look on the cls i love and hate at the same time. the only neg on the jag is the inside on the mercedes seems so more advanced. i really all over the place.

I may be biased but once you own and drive an AMG - you want no other....of course i mean when comparing apples to apples...

That is the way I feel after having owned my P30 cls63 after only 10 days. It definitely feels like I made the right decision on not waiting for the F10 M5. As to Vic's points about handling I have been very surprised at how well the cls handles and I am coming from an almost 600 lb. lighter M3.

My 2010 C63 with the optional 19" AMG wheels was about as firm as the 2012 E63 PP in Sport suspension mode (middle setting). Sport + was firmer and Comfort softer / more forgiven (without turning into a couch).

All in all perfect for my taste but I imagine it's quite a bit stiffer than the E550.

My p30 cls comfort susp setting is definitely softer than the m3 comfort suspension setting but not by much. I would say the p30 settings are halfway between the m3 settings leaning toward more comfortable. This is actually a good thing as the sports + setting in the m3 was unusable on anything but a track.
