Yeah, still pretty shocking though.
One has to think that one of the many reasons why AMG's see such dramatic depreciation, is due to possibly a softer Used Car sentiment toward it, i.e people being weary of buying a Used AMG due to what the previous owner must have done with it.

Yea you can. I found multiple examples when I was still shopping. My search methods were just AutoTrader and sometimes eBay. The thing is when they get in the 60s they finally move quickly. I'd have to go out of state though to get tht pricing but big deal.

The prices I posted are auction sale prices... these are bare bones purchase prices on the line. There are alot more fees and charges that COULD be added into the sale price... these are few but not limited to:
Transport (almost always a charge)
Auction fees (always)
Recon (almost always there is something that needs to be fixed or done on the car)
Books (not all cars get books so most dealers need to get books)
Any applicable reseller taxes
So almost always there is more to the price than what I showed. Almost.

I know many will disagree, but I've had family members who buy Auction cars (and sell them) all the time, and am well acquainted with "Auction Cars". Being completely anally "perfectionist" in my ways of gauging cars, I've rarely seen an Auction car that didn't look like it had a prematurely rough life. Always some weird "Auction Car" elements that seem to plague all of them, even in the smallest of details. Those cars are what you usually see sold at generic Used Car lots called "Exclusive Prestige Automotive Import BS BLAH BLAH" and even there, you can see/feel/smell the scars.
Basically, the Auction process can be rough on a car, not to mention why it may have ended up at an Auction in the first place (lots of times it's because Dealers don't deem them worthy of being resold on the lot).

The Mercedes dealer I prefer to use for service will send all non Mercedes, Aston Martin, Range Rover and Jaguars to auction. Basically if they do not sell it new or new via a sister dealership then off to auction.

So it looks like more than a few people noticed that. It is indeed quite puzzling. I noticed that and that was why I went instead for an E63, which I like more and is more practical anyway.

I started off with shopping the C63 and quickly decided that if I were to buy one that I'd just buy it new how I'd want it over settling on something not quite how I'd want it. The savings going used was not all that substantial and seems like the interior in the 2012 corrected what little beefs I had plus you get the better transmission. I seem to even recall questioning the pricing at one dealership where the 2010 used non CPO car was not much less than the brand new 2012 sitting on the showroom floor not 50' from the used car. They could not even give me a reason for why the pricing was so close.

thanks for all the feedback y'all! man seeing these cars in the 60-70s is really an eye opener. i found another local car- much better optioned, P30, distronic, lane awareness, etc for $95k.
http://www.mercedesbenzofdenver.com/...672c091661.htm
it has ~130mi on it and is $15k below sticker, but seeing them going for sale at auction for $30k less is pretty hard to swallow.
if my 08 E63 didn't choke me to death with sulphur fumes whenever i drive it hard i'd probably wait until i find a good '10 or '11 for cheap or look at the 12s when they arrive.
