Yes, any damages showing up whether on MB database or carfax, etc will be a major ding when it comes time to trade in your car. As I had mentioned, the transporting company's insurance or the dealer needs to take that into consideration and reimburse you for that depreciation and also the cost of the bumper plus labor if you so request. I think it's an extremely reasonable request. The loaner car is somewhat on the slippery slope side of things. However, if you have no other forms of transportation as a result of this incident, the dealer should provide you with a loaner car.
If I were in this situation and the dealer wouldn't budge at all for any major discount, I would demand the refund of the deposit and go elsewhere. I know it's a long wait, but I would rather wait another few months rather than putting up with their BS.

Thanks for all your comments on this. It certainly helped me keep things in perspective as I dealt with my stubborn dealer. At long last I've accepted the car . There was a small additional discount and 3M thrown in. I believe the dealer and I are now equally unhappy with the deal. The car on the other hand is all I hoped for :

It's good to know you finally have the car in your possession. Hopefully the given discount will offset the additional depreciation caused by the damage.

I love that ride. Please post pics. I so wanted a previous gen E63 Wagon and ultimately "settled" for a sedan, which is fantastic. I'd still consider a wagon simply to better throw my bikes on the roof.
Regarding your bumper, I think it was smart to take it. Cars are damaged all the time and they only mentioned it because it was an ordered car.
