Not to change the question but I think this is a much closer call with the e63 v. the m5 rather than m5 v. Cls63. The cls gets the big styling advantage there with most of the practicality of a sedan.

+1 on the CLS styling, the M5 is very very subtle IMO. But to compare CLS, it must be with the M6 grancoupe coming out next year I believe.

Instead of GS, you might want to consider IS-F for a bit of fun. What about a C63 or M3?

Yes CLS's design is definitely head-turning (except for those Angelina Jolie lip rear lights). However, the E is the best for utility since the rear seats and the trunk are more comfortable. The E is also much bigger than the CLS.

E550
Haven't drivin the M5, but I drove a new 530 while my E60 was getting the clutch replaced. The car is certainly longer than my E60, and felt bigger. I realize the 530 is missing all the M5 fun parts, but still, the car felt huge to me.

My wife's 2012 E550 appears to be the same size as her old E550. All of the BMWs seem to be up-sizing, while MB seems to be maintiaining their same dimensions. If you go with the M5, my vote is Indianapolis Red.

The biturbo E63 sounds like a monster! The F10 M5 doesn't come close to the sound of an E63.

This, plus styling is subjective to each individual, the CLS is def the flashier car but there is something about a tinted and slammed sedan, with the wheel openings in the fenders sitting right on top of a nice wide custom wheel that looks so gangster, I still think you should get that white "saloon" it's perfect except for the steering wheel being on the wrong side

I test drove the M5 again today, I wasn't really that impressed with it.

It looks like a basic 5 Series and although it sounded quite good, I don't think I could live with that fake engine noise.

Also, for the 2 hours I had it, I think about only 3 people looked at it!

The performance was amazing but I think I'll make an offer on the E63 tomorrow.

Excellent choice, mate! You wouldn't be disappointed. I'm still in shock from hearing about the M5 engine sound being partially electronically generated.

Alpine white, my fave.... I like the understated looks of the car plus for me the driving feel is so important. I think I might get one when they hit stateside.

Same here, but i'm thinking one of the greys they come in or a few of the blacks for me. A nice tint, HRE's, and small drop is all it needs. Probably gonna wait towards the end of the year.
