E63 or M5
Currently driving a 2012 C63 but I'm thinking about changing this week to either the E63 or M5 and trying to weigh up the pros and cons, I am really unsure about which one to go for.
Here's a E63 I like with delivery miles at a dealership near me and available now http://used.mercedes-benz.co.uk/phot...0_1024x768.jpg
And a M5 available now, with delivery miles http://www.bmw.co.uk/_aucoriginalima...L_060212_1.jpg
I've driven the M5, but haven't driven, or heard the sound of the new E63 in person.
The only thing putting me off the E63 is the new twin turbo engine, does it sound anything like the amazing noise from the 6.2 NA in its predecessor or the new M5?
Any advice would be appreciated!

you do know that the m5 has a twin turbo also, and it has like no sound so they had to enhance it with electronic audio added in to make it sound like a real car???????????????????????????
get the m5
get the m5

youtube it, I can tell you the E63 5.5 Biturbo sounds so insanely amazing! havent driven the m5 so cannot give you a fair comparison but ive heard about that sound procesing as well which i find very fake. You will have better off the line power in the AMG (or wil feel that way, just the brutality of it) as you are used to with you own car.. Get the E63 for sure!

2005 E55 drowned/ 2011 CTS-v coupe gone/ 2012 E63 PP,LSD finally here
and the cars sounds incredible, I personally love the way it sounds stock, subtle but when you get on it look out, sometimes when I blow by people and they catch me at the next light they always have this look on their face and it's because the car sounds like a beast when passing someone, get it you won't regret it

Electronic audio in M5?!...Didn't know that. Forget M5 then. Since this is an E63 forum, I'm sure you know what the recommendation is. Even without that, I would still recommend an E63. Of course you can also go for one with the previous 6.2 M156 engine. I have it and it sounds good. The 5.5 M157 also sounds good.

I am swayed more in the E63's direction, which is kinda why I asked here, as I knew I'd get reasons for the E over the M5.
Does anyone have specs for the E63 with the AMG performance pack? Torque, BHP, 0-60 etc.
I am looking over the Merc website and can't find anything. The white one in the link above is located here, for the full specs: http://used.mercedes-benz.co.uk/amg/...r-sale-ee63new

In the unlikely event you find the M157 too quiet you can pull the resonator off, in which case you will really hear it bark. Take a listen to mine at WOT.

Base price for the car brand new is £74K. This has car has most of the extras, including the performance pack and it's essentially a brand new car with delivery miles on it, 10 or so. So £86K/$140,000 is the price for a brand new one here!

As a loyal AMG and M owner, Im excited to try out the new F10 M5.
* they have made up ground in the tq war and have created a low end monster
* DCT- best tranny in the business- makes lesser or heavier cars perform outstanding. The E9X M3 is a great example, the DCT allows the 414hp car with under 300 lb/ft of tq to run with cars with more hp/tq. Yes its not a straightline warrior but it does move. My E92 M3 could keep up with a W211 E63- the lack hp was made up in the efficient power transfer and lackof parasitic loss to the ground. The GTR is another marvel that shines even with its 3800 lb weight. The PDK in a Turbo S is amazing (I have it) and the car, out of the box, pulls low 6's in zero to 100 and high 120's mph in trap speed.
*BMW handling- the M cars handle- nothing else to say as I have had 4 of them and they are all amazing except for my E63 M6 which, chassiwise, seemed slightly lacking.
These are all performance pieces IMHO but Im a driver first and a luxury lover 2nd- so I want to see what the M Division has to offer. I also have already owned a W212 E63 N/A and have an E63 TT Estate so my ownership with the E might a little long in the tooth (also had a W210 E55 and W211 E55).
For the visual side:
* I love the color Monte Carlo Blue
* The car is a subtle beast
* I actually like the stock wheels (but HRE will force me to mod)
* Interior is slightly bland but I dont care
* HUD- its a must, cant understand why Benz doesnt have this
These are all subjective opinions with some being far more factual than others. I just built my own M5 and msrp was a reasonable 102k for all the goodies sans carbon ceramics.

DCT is superior to MCT, hence why the SLS and C63 BS have it. I myself also cannot understand why Mercedes haven't rolled it out yet across the AMG range.

Drive a car at higher speeds, its a benefit no doubt--- it helps keep your eyes on the road yet you know your speed and the all important rpms.
Not sure if you have ever tried out the BMW HUD but I think its definitely worth it.

It's a rear axle fitment issue. No dour they are working on it and we will see it in a few years with the whole amg line.

I really do get confused over the MB's 7G transmission and 7-speed MCT transmission. At times, I thought they are the same thing but apparently not.
I just like MB to at least make the LSD standard on all the AMG cars. HUD would be nice, too, as an option.

I like both cars, but I would go for the M5 in moonstone or singapore grey this time around. But I'm sure that a lot of people here would go with the E63 which I also like because of tough looking exterior. Just make sure whatever car you buy you do european delivery. You'll save some money and have a vacation to remember.
I'd want the M5 and the new 991 Carrera S, but I can't afford both so I'm leaning to getting the porsche and getting lexus GS for work.
