Yes, cost of living is quite major. Lots of people don't take that under consideration. If you relocated due to job, hopefully the new income has taken the cost of living into consideration.
That's why I'm staying where I am in Indiana...still quite close to Chicago. The way I see it is: I can either move to a place with lots of fun and stores but all I can do is window shopping; or I can live in the middle of nowhere and buy anything I want once in a while, or anytime via online. I prefer the latter.
