2012 E63 Renntech Tune...607whp/710wtq!!!
As some of you know, last week I sent my ECU out to Renntech to have it tuned. Everything went very smoothly, and I received it back two days later as planned, along with a couple of BMC Air Filters. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I opened the box and installed the goodies right away. Then I took the car for a spin.
Now, mind you, I've read all the reviews and power results on these M157 tunes, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine it would have the effect it did. The car felt strong before, but now it feels AMAZING! Stock-like driveability at partial throttle, but at WOT, all hell breaks loose. Mashing the throttle on the freeway at speed even spins the tires loose. This thing is a monster!
To make sure the results I felt on the street could be verified on the dyno, I took the car down to MD Automotive in Westminster to check the power output. Keep in mind this is the same shop used in all the Edmunds.com dyno reviews. It's a typical, run-of-the-mill Dynojet 248, and Mark the owner is a really nice guy.
Car: 2012 E63 AMG Non-PP
Modifications: BMC Air Filters, Renntech Tune
Fuel: 95 octane mix via blend of Chevron 91 and VP Racing 100
Ambient Conditions: 75 deg F, 28.79 Baro, 59% Humidity
Dyno Type: Dynojet 248
Peak Results (4th gear): 607whp & 710wtq SAE Corrected!!!
Attached below is a picture of the dyno graph printout. Besides amazing peak power, note how smooth the curves are, and how safe the AFR looks.
Needless the say, I couldn't be happier with these results. Much thanks to George and team at Renntech for the great customer service and a top-notch product.
Next up...the Airstrip Attack event hosted by Shift-S3ctor Nov 10-11. I think this car is really going to surprise some people there. Can't wait!

That is frickin crazy! And that is with out upgraded turbos right? I have one question though, that tune is basically pushing the engine and the turbos to their limits, so wouldn't that create a reliability issue?

Thanks! Renntech has assured me there should be no reliability issues, and that peak boost is no higher than the stock Performance Package level of 18.8psi.

Thanks. No, never got a chance to drive the Weistec car, but I'm sure it's equally impressive. And no, my car did not have the PP.

Most tuners are all in the same ballpark--- different dynos show different numbers of course. Im sure race gas (mix) helped a bit too. Nice gains- would love to see you run another tuned M157 at the Sector.

There are a couple of other tuned M157's attending the Airstrip Attack, and I intend to run them both. One is a 12 CLS63 running at least the Weistec tune, but not sure about additional mods. And the other is Jason who you know with his Renntech tuned 12 CLS63 and supporting mods. He should spank me, but the E63's slight weight advantage may help a bit.

Oh, don't you worry. Pretty much everyone is bringing GoPros to the event, including myself. Should make for some amazing footage.
I'm also really hoping to get a crack at Josh's Weistec supercharged C63, as the question of how our cars tuned stack up to that has been questioned a lot.

Would would stay far away from the BMC Air Filters. Those damn filters ended up being one of the biggest nightmares I have ever been through!

Excellent results!
Out of curiosity did RennTech create your tune knowing that you would be running 95 octane or did they assume that you would be running the crappy 91 octane we're typically limited to here in CA.

I made no special octane ask, so as far as I know they gave me their typical 93 octane shelf tune. That tune will dial back timing appropriately when I choose to run straight 91 octane, and dial it up when I throw in some race gas. Perfect compromise to me.

Ha, I knew somebody was going to ask that. I actually only made a total of 4 runs that day on the dyno. Midway through the runs, I accidentally messed with the save directory while viewing my charts, and it started saving to someone else's directory who had left off at run 19.

Sorry again for your horrible experience and thanks for alerting the forum. I will definitely be on the lookout.

How does it feel compared to your 474 rwhp c63 you had? I guess they're not even all that much heavier are they, and it's got a considerable amount of more power. Would it walk your old car pretty bad?

Just wait until you see footage of how it did at the Airstrip Attack event, especially my run against a new 13 M5.

Definitely would walk my old c63. I'm taking this car to Famoso private rental next week and have no doubt it will easily beat the c63's best time of 11.5 at 122.
