E-63 windshield Tinting

Guys I am planning on tinting my windshield along with the sides and back glass. Want to be sure it is needed. Does the 2010 E-63 have a windshield that is already blocking UV LIGHT? I read that some MBs have this. Don't want to spend money if not required.

I've been wanting to do mine with 50% but can't find anyone that is willing to do it.

50% is the way to go. Huge difference compared to no tint and can still see well at night. Just don't do 35.

Got 35% on the sides and feel 50% will darken the whole interior a little more.

That's what I have, and yes it does make the rest look darker.

The E class doesn't not have a thermally insulated windshield. Only the S, CL and GL (as an option)

I have my wagon 5% all around and 50% on the windshield and I have love it! It really helps cut down on the glare on the interior.

50% lets in more light than 35% so not sure how the 50% will make the interior darker than 35%.

I have 35% all around except on the windshield....kinda obvious why its not a good idea to put anything on the windshield. Some like to go darker than 35% but to me anything darker than 20% is just an invitation to get pulled over for no reason...makes you look like a dealer or a p*mp...but maybe that's the look you want!

14' E63 S
11' e63 tint

I have my sides done in 20% and my windshield at 50%. I wouldn't recommend more then 50% for the windshield. I have to admit i love having my windshield tinted. It darkens the sides and it make the car look like a batmobile. As for having it done, i have a good relationship with my tint shop so it was easy. Just tell them you'll sign a release form so they won't be liable for anything.

Tint shops have no liability anyway for tints.

Not a lawyer but imagine if a tint shop puts tints on your windshield when it's prohibited by law and you get into an accident because visibilty was a factor, I'm sure someone will come knocking.

UVB does not significantly penetrate glass, where as UVA does. However, even a clear plastic film will block nearly all UVA. Thus if you have a clear tinting film on your glass, pretty much 99% of UVA and UVB will be gone.

To prevent skin cancer, tinting shops will do clear tint for the front windshield. However, I always wonder if that's necessary because all windshields in the US are laminated with a sandwiching plastic layer in order to pass DOT requirements. Wouldn't that layer suffice to block all UVA? Hopefully someone can give me some info on that because I haven't found the answer yet.

Hey nick. Do u see any loss of clarity out the front? Any ghosting from on coming traffic thru the tinted windshield?

no loss in clarity, but depending on the brand of film used you can get a glare which is annoying, make sure they use a good film.

LLUMAR, SUNTEK, SOLAR GUARD, JOHNSON, MADICO, VIPER, they all carry entry level tint and their high performance series. either is good just make sure its there top grade film, that will prevent discoloration, cracking, bubbling, peeling, interference with cell phones **** like that

I went with suntek CXP I believe. Looks great on the sides. I'm going to wait a bit on the windshield.

Yes! Another reason to have dark tint on the car especially if there is lots of boogers.
