MB dealer appraised 2012 E63 wagon
I stopped in to see the cost of trading my MY12 E63 wagon with PP, LSD, premium leather - $108k MSRP. 2,600 miles. black/black, 19" 10-spoke rims for a MY14 with 4matic.
$75,000 if i trade it before 3k miles, $70-72,000 if i trade it afterwards.
that's impressive depreciation.

those are great responses!
I did a one-pay lease so i could just turn it in at the end and not worry about the depreciation but that appraisal is obnoxious.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Prices are dumping hard for 12's with 14's arriving in Aug/Sept
My local Benz dealer has a '12 with 3100 Kms asking $84k
After seeing the '14 in person, I think the 12's/13's are a steal

no surprise here, these cars as well as many mass produced cars over 70K depreciate very fast, They start leveling off around the thrid year but the first is the worse.
I think the wagon is worse- very small market for them. Most thought they are rare but as rare as they are the rarer the buyer.
I got some issues with vibration when I go faster than 75- trying to figure if its the mods or something with the car. I have heard and know of three- four cars with the same problem that are all stock. Leads me to beleive that there is issues
my buddy is trying to lemon his for the issues right now

I had a wagon for 5 months (2012) I know the value of this car on a dealer lot. They low balled you because there just isnt that much demand for it. Yes they are rare in supply and rare in demand. They fit a very niche market and even moreso as an AMG. I got low ball offers of 80k on mine with 4k miles (if memory serves me) on a 109 sticker. Then I just kept shopping it for more and finally I got what I wanted and moved on.
If you buy a car from the offering dealer they will raise their ACV on the car but no used car manager wants to bury 80k in funds on a used AMG wagon. They cant lease it and thats the way most of the wagons are retailed...

This isn't an example of depreciation; it's just a dealer trying to screw you.
Here's a data point: about 3 weeks ago, a local MB dealer put up on Autotrader a 2012 e63 sedan for $91k with 1,600 miles, original MSRP $105k. They sold it THAT DAY for $500 under their asking price. They let me test drive it but sold it when we left.
Point is: yours will sell for $90k or more.

What if your car was totalled or stolen a week after you leased it? Wouldn't you be out an entire lease terms money?

Actually he would not... since he one paid the lease he only owes the residual or the value at end of term. So if he totalled a week after he got it the payoff would be the estimated value determined at the time of the lease 3 years down the road (or whatever term he chose). Insurance would be ACV on the car so there would be equity.

I bought a new 2005 CL65 for 101k plus tax.... the car stickered for 172k- yes I got beyond a stupid deal. 16 months later I was trying to get a certain number for the car and no offers were within 10k of the 90k I was looking for. I just took the best one, cashed the check and moved on. Its part of flipping cars.

Doesn't seem like we can complain much about E63 AMG depreciation. Market prices and lease residuals seem to reflect around 60% of MSRP resale value after 3 yrs, which puts the E63 amongst the best cars out there, at least from the data I've seen.
Yes, of course the dollar value of depreciation is high, but they do well on a % basis.

I completely agree on the depreciation curve on these cars. I had a 2007 E63 wagon before this.
I bought a $108k MSRP car for $95k in December and did a one-pay lease so i could know my depreciation/cost to operate upfront.
But walking into the dealer as a multiple MB buyer (i've also had other MBs) saying you want to trade for the new one (so they can make plenty of profit on that) - what a stupid move to offer me such a low # on my car. No attempt to maintain the brand or the customer (its MB Manhattan - owned by the company).
My insurance is for replacement value - I actually think i get MSRP if my car was totaled or stolen.
