european delivery experience?
I'm in the process of changing my C63 for a more family oriented hauler, ie an E63 wagon... I was thinking of combining the joy of new car ownership with a trip to Europe with my wife (vacation from the kids also!). Anyone had experience with the process? I found some info on MB Canada website but it's not very detailed. I will also contact dealer for more info but wanted to get a feel from someone who did it. How easy is the process? fees? drop off of vehicule? Any concerns about the different drop off locations (from what I see they are independant shippers and not MB dealers...)?
Thanks a lot for your replies...

Don't know about Canada - you might want to check the M-B Canada web site for information on the current program and options.
Key elements - work through a local dealer, double check everything on the order, pick your travel (consider the Black Forest Rally Package), and enjoy. And guard the certificate of origin with your life.
Most of the drop off points are fairly reliable - just pay attention to the holiday schedules. We picked up and dropped off in Stuttgart and the hardest part of the drop-off was waiting for a taxi to take us to the airport.
Don't know if the policy still applies, but when we did our delivery in 2004 (US) we got a 7% discount off MSRP that was not offered for AMG models. 7% of an E class helped cover our travel expenses.

Dealer got back to me yesterday... car must be paid cash, ful payment 35 days prior to delivery... I intend to lease so that's the end of the story.
Oh yeah, I also don't have 120000$ luing arround... yet! So it will be Canadian Delivery Program for me!

Buy it in Alberta, drive it out east... save the HST, still get to rip on your new AMG before settling in at home.
