e63 wagon service/maintenance/insurance costs

looking to purchase the new 2014 e63 wagon in fall or next spring - going from 2010 S4.

was wondering what kind of service/maintenance/insurance expenses am I looking at.

this site states that maintenance costs are estimated at $1,000 per year and insurance at $3,000.

any personal experiences would be great to hear. I am based in NYC.

Would love to jump on this and also ask how many services you've had to have?

for S4?

No major issues (alignments @$199 once a year and front branks after 3 years for $370, and $100 for winter/summer tire swapping), regular maintenance checks I paid for $800 in 2010. Have about 27k on car since March 2010. Also got rim insurance for $500, but that was a waste of money.

insurance I pay about $1,800 p/y

Brakes and tires on the E63, but in no way as serious of an expense as Audi's tend to be. Drive normally, figure 30k on brakes, just don't let the calipers go into the rotors...that'll cost you. You track it on weekends, you'll pay in tires and brakes. These are 4000+ pound cars, something gives its life to stop it, and it is the pads and rotors. Like the Audi, they are sacrificial rotors.

Tires are ultra soft....keep 'em full and hope for 20 k out of them, may be a bit more......

Insurance...mine never bumped up more than 75 a year from a bluetec to this 2012 P30 E63.

Like most new cars, maintenance in the first 3 years is minimal. Do your oil changes (and the scheduled services...if you really think that is necessary....i don't, its mainly tossing money down the toilet for them to do "visual inspections" of this or that).

Tires will cost you anwhere in the 12,000-24,000 mile range depending on how you drive your car.

I have 22K miles on mine and have quite a bit of pad left. Full brake and rotor work on all four corners will probably cost you in the neighborhood of $3Gs.

Buy the extended warranty if you're going to keep it past 4 years. About $3gs for another 3 years through 75,000 miles.

I think if you factor in 750 a year in maintenance and wear and tear items over the life of ownership while under warranty, you're pretty much covered for typical out of pocket expenses. (not that you will be out of pocket each year that amount)
