2014 E63 Production Delay

Aloha!

Long time reader...first time poster...lol...

I was hoping to be the first to take delivery of a 2014 E63 here in Hawaii.

I ordered back in the beginning of March an Iridium Silver E63 with the night styling package. My production date was supposed to have been July 5 with delivery to the islands in early September.

After I read about the engine shortage on another thread, I contacted my sales guy. His first initial fact finding had everything still on track. Until...today...

He received notice that my car was not built due to the lack of engines! Darn you one person, one engine, Germans!

He's researching to find a new time schedule for my car.

But I ask this wonderful forum... Anybody else have an idea? Again ordered first week of March - July 5 build - September 5-10 delivery.

I guess I'll live through the picture of that silver/night style E63 in the other string for now. Sigh.

I have been one of the (actually the only) ones to take delivery of their car last Saturday. The car is amazing and much better in the flesh vs. in the photos. Sorry to hear about your delay, and not to throw the sales guy under the bus, but geez he should have known about this way before today...there are several different stages of the ordering process and if your car was scheduled for a 9/5 delivery, it should have been "on the water" right now, which is almost the last stage of the process, and a fully built car.

Sucks to hear about it though, I hope you get one soon!

Hey JJCTHE1,

Yeah it wasn't the email and call that I wanted for sure. But at this point, I'm just trying to get an idea of when it could possibly arrive. He's supposed to know more on the "new" timeline Monday or Tuesday. With the time difference between here and Germany being huge...he couldn't get any updates Friday.

To be honest... When I saw your thread about that Saturday delivery, I thought it was so cool. Figured it also meant, my E63 was around the corner since I ordered first week of March. So much for that theory!

So glad to hear you're enjoying your new rocket ship and that it looks even more impressive in real life.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to head back and stare at that picture of the silver E63 with night styling...for a few hours...lol.

I ordered my car in April and My car just got a VIN yesterday so I'm hoping for a mid September delivery. It seems like only a small few were built for some of the larger dealers and the next batch should start arriving in mid Sept. Your car may be a little later because of the distance from Gremany.

Hey Captist,

Grats on getting your VIN...hope your delivery comes as you expect.

I should know more concretely next week where I'm now at in the timeline.

Even if it was finished right now... I'm told...

It would take almost 60-days to get here!

The car ships across the Atlantic, goes down and around South America, and lands in Los Angeles. It gets checked out, cleaned up, and then sent off to Hawaii. That's a 3-4 day cruise from LA to Honolulu. Throw in a few days for the here dealer to check again and details and it adds up to about two months from build to finish to me sitting in it.

Got word yesterday from my sales guy that my new assigned production date is 9/6/13.

Which if all goes well...means...a mid-November arrival here is the islands.

Anybody else get new info on their orders and deliveries? Aloha!

Mine is currently on a ship - "the Oberon" - in the English channel. Not that I'm excited or anything!

Awesome! Each day moving/sailing closer to your garage...lol...

When my car eventually ships...

It will cross the Atlantic, then go down and around South America, land in Los Angeles and get checked out, back on another boat, sail over the Pacific to Honolulu, unloaded, 25 mile per hour max speed convoy to dealer, re-checked, detailed and 25mph limiter taken off, and finally taken home.

Hawaii is great...but it does add an extra month to the delivery timeline!

No real complaint though, it all works out in the end, as pointed out previously.

Mine's delayed also due to lack of AMG engines. I was scheduled for a August 5-11 build, no word yet on a new build date. Glad you have some hard dates and the end is in sight for you!

I feel your pain! I think not knowing an exact date is the worst. At least when you get a date you can mark your calendar and count down...lol...

My unofficial analysis seems to be about two months behind initial build dates.

Hang in there!

Ah yes...the road to Hana is beautiful! I'm guessing you've visited Maui.

For me... I'll have to settle for a nice trip to the North Shore for views of winter big wave surf. I'm on Oahu. But each island certainly has amazing scenes and scenery. Enhanced when driving an E63 of course!

Oahu has so much tourist traffic and it all seems to be single lanes roads. It would be hard to find a place to actually go WOT without running into someone.

Maui seems to be even worse.

Yes twice... first on our honeymoon in 2005 and then in 2009 with a couple of friends and the kids... For sure we will be back, planning a 2015 trip (10 year anniversary).

Actually Oahu isn't too bad. Waikiki can get congested with touristy traffic. North Shore only really gets bad when it's big surf. Local and tourists both swarm to see the waves. And yeah, that stretch is one lane each way.

But for me... There's enough areas where I can enjoy the E63 a bit.

Good stuff! Maui is a great place to celebrate a wedding and certainly an anniversary.

When you're on Maui... One of the local treats you'll want to try. Tasaka Guri-Guri. The little shop is right near the airport. It's sort of like sherbet but even better!

See you in a couple of years.

We go to Hawaii almost every winter. Going to Maui this dec. I've contemplated the road to Hana many times but can't bring myself to do it in a POS rental. If I lived there I'd definitely get a drop top though. Convertible E46 M3 with a stick would be perfect there.

I'm not far from ordering a new E63 S Wagon but its sounding like it will be early next year for delivery the way things are going. I don't suppose they ever catch up on their estimated delivery dates but just keep pushing them back?

The road to Hana and staying in Hana are both "must do's" when you visit Maui. Hana is simply beautiful.

Roadwise...gotta love those stretches where it pretty much becomes a one lane road...lol... Good times!

Oh yeah... Maui also has the only Krispy Kreme donuts shop in Hawaii.
