Mercedes Extended Warranty
#27
Yea I am afraid of that. I am not sure but a third party might be the way to go. I need years way more than mileage, and if a third party offers the same protection it might be cheaper. I can get a 5 year 60K for 3.7K. It is not my daily driver and I have a small plane for longer trips. I just need something to protect it if the tranny or engine pops.

Man a lot of guys get these warranties... I'm assuming u guys are all meeting this car for attest 5-7 years,? I never end up keeping these cars for more the 1-3 years

Yeah, I don't tend to keep a car for less than 7-8 years. In return, I'm not independently rich, but I can own lots at a time.
Everyone should have a big truck. Tow, haul, 4wd, bikes, dogs, whatever.
Everyone should own a manual transmission RWD convertible. Because August 9th, when it was sunny, 80 degrees, all the kids where in school, the wife was happy, and there was nothing pressing on the work calendar.
Always having the super-new-NEW thing is cool and all, but really doesn't get you the smiles it costs, IMHO.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I bought the extended on mine and plan on keeping the car until 2018, that's one reason I decided not to do any mods on the car. Mercedes is also picky about how the car was maintained, for example doing the brake flushes every couple of years, trans service, diff oil changes. I can imagine if you were not up to date on the maintenance they might void what part went in the system that was not maintained. I would think they would have the right to do that if there was no proof of the service, not saying it has to be done at the MB dealer, but you need to keep your paperwork from wherever it was done.
For me I've learned from the past changing cars too often is a big hassle, gotta go through the whole sales process over again and all the paperwork and bs that goes along with it, I'd rather spend my time on other things and there is not a whole heck of lot of difference between a new car or a 4 year older one assuming it was taken care of especially if the car has been fairly trouble free as mine has been. Nothing worse than trading in a trouble free car for a lemon, been there done that.

Erin is busy, but she does work week ends. That may be the best time to call. I paid around $3K for the 3 year 75K warranty. My car is a 2010 and had 25k on the odometer. One good thing is it goes with the car or can be cancelled anytime with the refund being pro rated. With most 3rd party warranties, once you file a claim there is no refund, not the case with a MB warranty The good thing with the MB warranty over a 3rd party is you know what is covered and there is no deductible. The trouble with 3rd party warranties is the sales person can tell you anything and it is not binding. You have to be able and willing to read and understand what is covered. I bought a warranty for my M5 and the salesman swore up and down that the tranny would be covered as an automatic but wasn't when I filed a claim. I even had an email from him stating such but they said the only binding agreement was the singed contract.

Plus you don't need to even have paperwork (although I do have the contract of course) as when the car goes in to the MB dealer they work off the vin number. I had double checked just to make sure the extension was added onto the vin number and it showed 2018. Definitely a good insurance policy should something major happen with the car.

Erin called me last night. She is super nice. Unfortunately she said the "computer says no". I have been racking my brain on what to do. This morning I even considered trading in my 10 for a newer one that is CPO'd. This is a hard option to stomach because my car is perfect. In the end I called my SA because I am coming up on a B0 service to schedule and ask her if she had any problems with 3rd party EWs. She said they all suck. Anyway I asked her to figure out a way for me to get an ELW on my non CPO'd 10. She called me back and told me my dealership is willing to CPO MY 63. I will find out Friday when I take it in what this will cost me. I'll report back after Friday.

If your car is so perfect, why are you so concerned about having an extended warranty?

Erin got back to me on the weekend but I purchased the EW from Dan Boone already as he answered his phone more often. :-) Dan.Boone@mbofaustin.com

Because, I still owe 46K on her so it will not be paid off for about two more years and I don't want to worry about the drivetrain while there is a lien on her. Call it peace of mind. I don't know what I don't know.

I'm sure the dealership wouldn't turn down your offer to pay them a few grands just to check a few boxes on a paper for a well-cared car.
One indy told me that while he was shopping for a car for his wife, he saw a CPO'ed MB that has a history and clear visual evidence of collision repairs. Yeah, just look for some obvious like tire tread depth and check off those boxes and here ya go, buddy.

So is there any 3rd party warranty that would be good provide good coverage for E63 AMG? So far I can't seem to find any that would cover repair to AMG specs.
I'm actually looking at a 2010 E63 AMG with 51K miles on it with no warranty to use a "beater" until I get my 2014 AMG S that I have ordered, if I can get a good warranty for it or else I might get a used E92 M3.

Don't you only have another 6 weeks or so to wait before your new car arrives?
