Hell, why don't you guys grab the E250 blue tech badges Talk about a surprise...the diesel econo-sedan drops the HAMMER!

Ya 250 bluetec would be funny but E550 is actually true. I'ts a 5.5 engine... I don't know why they kept E63... I guess they didn't want to "downgrade" the name for marketing reasons... but it's against the whole badging philosophy of MB of probably the last 50 years...

I would have liked to get the "executive" euro option.

The funny thing would be to humiliate a fake "poser" E63 as seen in a thread not so long ago with a fake E550!!

A couple weeks back I took another shot at getting the Plastidip to work on the Merc emblem on the trunk. When I did the rest of the badges, I could not get the tristar to break cleanly. Tried many times.

This time I used a razor knife to score the upper portion of the circle that is tight to the spoiler. Worked perfectly.

If that strip wasn't such a PITA to tape off, I'd do it too. But I'm happy to not have mixed badges any more.

The other option is to remove it and spray it off the car:

Did you think about trying Shadowline trim in matte black for the chrome strip on the trunk? I did mine yesterday with gloss black... takes 15 minutes to do and it looks great... now if only gloss black plastidip was available I could match the nameplates with the gloss black of the night package...

Yeah, the rear chrome stripe was easy with the Shadowline vinyl. I think in my case (a black car) I needed to do gloss black tho.

I tinted my rear badges and then didnt put the E63/AMG ones back yet. Im trying out the sleeper look (its a wagon).

Here are a couple of pics of the car with the blacked out trims up to now... window and tailgate trim done on the first night and grille contour done this afternoon. No "before" shots but I'm sure you get the idea! I was thinking of letting the wings in the grille alone since they look quite complicated to wrap... I was also considering doing the rest of the roof in the back to match the pano, as well as roof rails. Spoiler is also in my considerations. Anyways it's super easy to revert back to original so nothing to loose. Last on my list will be the badges, but I dont like the look of the blacked out "S-AMG" badge. I will try to mask the "S" to keep it shiny.

Nice job done, Kart. I really want to see how glossifier works on plastidip as I am planning to black out all the chrome on the car as well once I get it. I will only allow three colors on the car, white, black and red. My wagon is diamond white.

Nice work on the window and rear trim. I still wonder if I should have used gloss black instead of matte. I think the matte looks better around the windows but the gloss looks better in the back.

OK I finished playing with the car and now it's time to drive it!!

Finished blacking out roof rails, emblems and window trims + partial grille.

This is what the night package should have been from the factory. Seems Like they stopped short a little (compared to BMW's shadowline).

Plastidip glossifier is truely more a "satinizer" but it helps blend the badges better with rest of trims.

Very nice, Kart. That is exactly what I will do to my car when I have it. How did you do the roof rails in black, wrap it? It seems like a difficult job to do.

The amg badge in the back looks more like matt black, I heard you need to apply a very wet coat of glossifier to achieve glossy look.

The rails are wraped with shadwline trim roof vinyl instead of window trim tape. Tried both and the roof vinyl is a bit thicker with less tendency to bubble.

I tried to do them in one piece first (window trim) but it was a mess. I decided to do the in sections since a seem is realy not that apparent. started with window tape but lots of bubble. Tried roof vinyl... was hard since tackiness is a lot more aggressive.

I ten Tried standard spray bottle on both surface wet application but since the rails are squared off it didn't stick. Finally tried a wet application with damp scott towel on rail only and it gives more freedom of motion without compromising tackiness too much.

Another trick is to wrap the circumfernece of the rails with 2 "U-shaped" pièces overlapping to prevent wrinkleing... Anyways it's a fun project! Maybe you will find a better way to do them but in the big picture I'm quite happy with the result!

The wait for this car is worth it!! Hang in there!
