Currently drive a 2018 E63S and looking for a winter setup for Lower Mainland BC. Tons of rain and the odd snowfall. Usual winter temps throughout the winter period are -2 to 12 degrees.
After much conversations with PMC tire (great guys) I was recommended a Michelin 255/35/19 square setup with a set of 19 inch replika wheels that will clear my brakes. Was told both directional and asymmetric variants offered and suggested to go with directional. Low and behold a directional variant apparently doesn't exist in this size and only asymmetric.
For those of you running the PA4s in 255/35/19; I assume you have the asymmetrics? Any complaints with this compared with a directional tire? Initially I was really discouraged by PMC for an asymmetric as apparently the units they sold to a few audi drivers "hated them" in the snow compared to directionals. Now I'm confused if I will regret buying this tire. My research suggests this is a great tire for the conditions it will be used in but would appreciate your real world experience. Directional options are Sotto 3 (significantly more money at $90 more per tire, Bridgestone LM001/Conti 830/Hakka 9 or R3 - all similar to PA4 pricing).
Also any tips on caps that will fit the replika brand wheels? I dont have them in my hands so dont know the exact size of the center cap but note many others are running this brand wheel on their cars as well.
For my 2016 E63 wagon, I went with 19" Replika rims and Michelin Alpin PA4's (square set-up). They performed perfectly in winter conditions (ice and snow) and are great tires. The rims came with black caps but I switched them out for the ones off my summer tires.

Thanks very much. The main question is, in your size, are they the ASYMMETRIC tread pattern? IF so thank you!

Clearly PMC has no clue what size tires are required for a W213 E63! Hint - not the same O.D. as the W212 model! Find a better supplier ASAP! Discount online vendors are not where I would look for proper advice on matters like this.

They certainly assured me this setup is the recommended one. Can you please let me know which setup you would run on a W213?
They recommended a wheel in the following dimensions along with the 255/35/19 tires.
Dimensions: 19x8.5 / 5x112
Center Bore: 66.5
Offset: 32
The size for my winter tires is 255/35R19 96V and they are asymmetrical. This setup worked perfectly. The Replika wheels (R157 black) looked great as well.

What @RedRacer was referring to is that the W212 (up to 2016) recommended square winter tire size is 255/35R19 while the current gen W213 have a larger OD with front tire size being 265/35R20, a 19" would be 265/40R19 or maybe a 255/40R19 if you want to be slightly narrower and less than 1% smaller than OE. But 255/35R19 would be a much smaller diameter at nearly 4.7% smaller than OE diameter and definitely not recommended.

I decided to go new Replikia
That way if I ding a rim having fun in the snow, it only costs me $170 for another one instead of $2400 from Mercedes
Not bad I found 255 PA4's, the replika 157's, TPS, black bolts, mounted and balanced, for just under $2500 shipped before taxes.
I have for sale a set of Pirelli sottozero winter tires that were used for about 1k miles. They fit stock 19" and recommended sizes by dealer. Pm me if anyone is interested.
Got square set of 19x8.5 Sparco’s from Tirerack running the MIchelin PA4s in 255/35/19’s. Look great for the $ and ride quality is improved over my summer set up with stock sized MIchelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s.
I went square, Michelin PA4s and Replika, but the R183 model, 19" x 8.5", 5/112 et35. Did the math and this moves inside of fronts 8 mm further away from hub (away from strut), moves rears 29 mm further away. Outside of the rears are 4 mm further out but there is no rubbing.
BTW - whats the likelihood of that - two magno grey wagons, 2016s in two posts so close to each other?....
I.T.Guy - you and I are brothers in arms.....
I went with Michelin Snow Alpin PA4 255/35 and 285/30. These are awesome ultra high performance snow tires and they are surprisingly quiet for snow tires. So far very happy with them and totally recommend them for our cars.
Update after driving for about 400 miles. PA4 are crazy good!
Almost as godo as real snow tires (X-ice, WS-80, etc) on snow, packed snow, and ice crust (packed snow that half melts and then refreezes). Very nice in wet as well.
And all this without loosing too much of the dry feeling.Traction is less and they are slightly squirmy, but nothing even close to a real snow tire.
Simply amazing and very, very happy.
And yes- ski sack is working out well, saving me from using a Thule box...
