Build to delivery time?

Hey all,

Just found out my car was built on 10/17. I was wondering the typical time between build and arrival at your dealer. 4 weeks on average? 6 weeks?

Thanks!

X

PS Getting excited! I have a car, it's just waiting for a boat in Germany!

Probably another month for delivery. Your dealer can tell you the ship it is on once it's picked up. You'll be able to track it after that point.

So how do cars get to the west coast? Around the horn, through the Panama Canal or a truck or train ride from the east coast?

I have an E63 coming to Hawaii and my sales guy told me the car will go to the East coast first. Then it's put on another boat that goes down and around South America and up to Los Angeles! I was a bit surprised it wasn't trucked or via the Panama Canal.

So I imagine most west coast cars go this way.

FYI - For Hawaii, it ends up being an extra month on top of the 4-6 weeks most deliveries take!

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
So I guess via sea is cheaper than via land. You know how business works...whatever is the cheapest.

Just found out the car is in transport! It is on the Independence II heading through the English Channel right now. Arrival in Baltimore estimated at 11/5/13! Am hoping for pre-thanksgiving delivery especially since I have requested they don't do anything to the car that isn't necessary to drive it. No need to do the detail/plastic removal etc. My detailing guy is going to handle that and then clear bra and opti-coat it.

Anyone else on the Independence II?

Congrats, the wait is almost over!
How long did it take / what were key events after placing the order, like from confirmation, VIN, through production completed earlier this month?

Here is my time frame the best I can piece it together.

July 6th ordered car and placed deposit. Was given mid-October build date.

September: Given preliminary build date of 10/21

October: Updated with build date of 10/17. Given VIN number right around date of build.

10/19 car loaded on Independence II, with estimated arrival in Baltimore 11/5.

November???...delivery!?

Hope that helps.

Yes. When I put deposit down, my sales guy put my name in the build slot the dealer had in Mid-October.
