What worries me too that with the tune I will be stressing the car a lot more and it won't hold up as good long term, so I may just accept the car as it is and enjoy it and have less worry's, life is too short, it would be one thing if I were Donald Trump or something but I'm not and only 55 years old and retired and I don't want to be a broke old man, lol and look back and think I wished I had done things differently rather than buy a new merc every couple of years or spent money on repairs a warranty may have covered.
There are Mercedes-Benz dealers ( at least in FL ) that sale the car with a renntech tune and it does not void the warranty. Guess it just depends on the dealer. We have around 500whp give or take. Image an extra 125whp like just a different league...

Definately the E63 AMG, looks so unique and much better than the M5 in my opinion!

Hey Wolf, no module- my tech in HB, CA is able to just adjust the setting of the factory link. By increasing the length of the link the car comes down. The SL and other ABC cars have the height adjustment now via the MFD so I can raise it there and drop it back via the toggle buttons. Because I dont play around with ride heights all too much the module was not necessary.

I have ADD when it comes to cars... I love the M157TT engine; it has a fantastic sound to it and is so tuneable. The MCT is a bit behind but I can endure it with the amazing sound that the car makes. But I really took the car because I wanted a hard top that kicked major a$$. This is my first vert and Im very impressed with the craftmanship and performance of this car. The looks of the car arent half bad either

FYI I loved the M5, but not for that long

I'm with you there except I have been keeping cars much longer. In this case with the W212, it will be right before the ELW runs out. I'm just gonna go for the highest factory tune and not have to worry about running into problems with the warranty. Retiring at 55?!...I would love to learn how to do that and I'm within a couple decades away from that age.

+1
Cars are almost never assets. They are liabilities so everyone needs to drive these types of cars hard and use them for what they are designed for.

Love how your ride height looks.
I have the non AMG model, but with the same forged wheels and interior.
I used links before but liked the thought of a module returning to stock height while driving thus avoiding any alignment issues.

Driven both R231 models; these engines are just incredible. Even the stock SL550 beat our SL55 and SL600 in acceleration. Am thinking of doing the Kleemann tune (535hp, 652lb-ft)

Thansk Wolfman... one thing on the SL63 (not sure if you have it on the 550) is the ABC screen on the Comand that shows where the height is along with G force measurments. Before I was lowered- my car would still run very low at higher speeds as you know this. The meter would clearly show it was almost in the lowest height mode. And then when Im parked or rolling slow the height came back up to slightly under mid point. If used the MFD to adjust the car up, the meter would then show it well above the mid point of the measurment display. So now im just lower all the time but since no suspension geometry was adjusted I was told no alignement unlike pulling out springs and have the struts and arms dangling.

I went with OE for the same reasons...

nice pick up with the SL63.

Using the links, the car won't know it's lowered and lowers yet more while driving (lowest above 80mph), so a camber adjustment may still be needed to keep your tires in one piece.

Btw, the SL550 actually comes with springs stock and ABC as an option. Had one on springs for 3 months before drowning it in a storm. Now have the ABC like yours. I had lowered the first one with H&R springs, but the ride quality suffered quite a bit. ABC is just so much better in any way.

MIne at speed runs the same height it does lowered or not (2nd to bottom notch onthe meter)--- the difference is when its stationary or at slower speeds where it sits lower. So my car is not going any lower than it already did and the suspension parts have not been removed thus no need to do an alignment. I did the same thing with my CL65 as well. The only difference is I didnt have the visual meter (see my attachement a few posts up) that show where the car is while im driving.

The car is so stable without the airmatic fluff I had in the CLS and multiple E's. The luxury inside is the best of any AMG's Ive ever had (8 total). The seats are incredible with 10 levels of lateral seat support, 10 levels of thigh support, dynamic lateral movement, and tons of other adjustments. I only ever would get a hard top vert and I think this is the best of the lot out there in hard top variations. It takes all of maybe 18 seconds to lower or raise the top and the wind levels at 150mph are basically nothing (at such speeds). I missed the M157 engine grunt and this car is so plug and play.

Of course Ill mod it (already dropped the ABC in the pic), tune, and wheels coming next week. So far so great!!!!!!!!!

She looks fantastic. Black/white interior look great too. Since this is your first SL and convertible here's a tip. The SL's roof seals need periodically lubricated or they'll start to squeak as dust gets in there. If you're driving around with the top up and start to hear it squeak on bumps or in turns that's what it needs. You can do it yourself or the dealer will do it for free. Sometimes the roof needs tightened too as it can jimmy loose after many miles. Dealer will do that too.

Ok buddy who cares about one car, this was a real life discussion LOL- enjoy the ACV on your 2012 when, or if, you try to get any such value out of it.

I've been using Krytox rubber seal lubricant for years. I hear a lot of people mention Gummi Pflege as being just as good if not better, but I've never tried it.

As someone who owns an E60M5 and is moving to the AMG-S I can tell you that the F10 M5 was an utter disappointment. The E E60 always felt like a two door sports car, and extremely agile compared with the F10 M5. I drove the competition package and have to say it is an improvement but the car is still too heavy. The heart of the E60 frame no matter what trim level, was centered around performance and the the F10 is built more along the lines of versatility and that has sacrificed it's soul imhop. Most E60 M5 owners will tell you
how incredible their big high revving V10s sound, and to sit in the F10 with Faux engine noise piped in is a SIN.

The AMG-S feels a lot like my E60 and sounds wonderful.

I agree on that, driven the F10, liked it but it was disappointing that they had to put a "fake" exhaust noise through the speakers, and the looks of the 5 series dont do much for me, love the AMG's. I would however love an M6 coupe, very good looking car!
