Some snow fun yesterday w/pics

had some fun out in the snow with the E63 S yesterday, this thing is a blast, drives like a 4matic with the SottoZero's on, love them! here are a couple pics enjoy!

Also saw these beauties recently, in love with the SLS BS. CLA looked cool but not worth its price tag imho, still a cool car though. Enjoy

Very very good, no way you can drive with performance contis on it. The sottos are a must, they make all the difference. It drives like a 4matic in the snow

Yes i tried it with the contis and it wasnt great, i guess i should say the 63 is performance 4matic. Totally different set up than regular 4matic. Thats why i compared it to regular 4matic with the sottos on

Great. Did you guys get a lot of snow? We got about 7" or so, but it was very cold. I had to go pick up pizza last night and the roads were packed with snow and ice.

Nice BS. Gosh, I love the SLS but can't justify one due to the utility of one.

Wow. The E63 is now popsicle looking. By the way, what's the vehicle on the other side of the E550? Is it an E36 convertible?

I happened to be out on the road last night with my RWD e63 (put on 255/35 blizzaks all around) and am very pleased with traction and stability these tires provide. Keep in mind i am tuned and downpipes so there is a lot of torque to handle but need to be gentle on the throttle... There were a lot of cars stuck on the road and every1 was looking at me, how is it possible for a rwd benz to drive on snow
I used SPORT traction and MANUAL on transmission...found to be best
Safe driving guys...

Its a Bentley Continental Supersports convertible, really fun all around kind of car!

Man thats a badass looking E63!! i've always wondered how they would handle with some snows on them. great to know, did you go up any hills covered in snow? Drove an S600 last week, my dad was thinking about getting one and putting snows on it, too much power though the car was all over the road, it had the conti's they put on all the CPO cars, so not snow tires but still....wonder what it would be like with snows.

I did without any trouble. Actually i surprised myself with the result as i never thought it would handle like that but i guess good tires do wonders...definitely a must for winter, especially for snow. Remember summer/performance tires should not be driven below 45 F.

While I covet the 2014 4matic AMG I've found the 2012 RWD surprisingly competent in the snow :

Love the titanium colored wheels. Reminds me of the competition grey wheels I had on my Z06.

Awesome video! really surprised with the RWD 212 in the snow. And yes i love the titanium wheels, i thought about black but seeing the titanium in person i think it flows better. Also thought about the forged five spoke, but didnt like that they were only available in silver, i wish they had them in titanium.

I dont like the new forged wheel design. I liked the previous forged style much more. And as far as the black wheels go, i think they look OK. They complimented the all black E63-S with the night styling pkge I drove the other day, but I feel the black is getting played out. And they are a pain to keep clean. I liked the titanium from day one.
I noticed something the other day while looking at the E63 on car.com and autotrader.com that some of the S-model's had silver 10 spoke wheels like the non S models. I still prefer the titanium though. Perfect color to compliment the car.

^no problem!! Im sure your ML63 is a blast to drive!! I almost got one last year, but didnt want to lose the feel of a car, but man that thing was a beast, cant imagine what yours is like!

And thats strange 6.3 i havent seen that yet, maybe the dealer swapped wheels or something thats really strange, the titanium looks the best IMO and really flows well with the white and red calipers. And yeah black is definitely played out and a pain in the *** to keep clean. I might switch my exterior parts out to carbon one day, im sure it will cost less than the 6k it does on the order sheet

Hmmmm, I tried ordering Blizzaks (255 front and 275 rear) from Tirerack for my stock rims and they called me back saying they couldn't do it since that setup didn't support the cars weight comfortably. Surprised you're able to get 255's all around. Regardless, be safe out there!

255/35/19 has a rating of 1565 lbs. per tire.
I figured 3130 for front and 3130 for rear it is plenty for the car that weighs 4100lbs. So far haven't had any trouble but only good results.

EDIT: I have Blizzak LM-60, maybe you tried some other ones as I just checked tirerack.com and they even recommend this size for RWD e63.

That's right, you did mention that before--it's right in your signature. That's the one driven around mostly by your dad.

They were the LM-32or 60's. Can't remember which. Anyhow they claimed the load rating needs to take in consideration the weight of the car plus 4-5 passengers plus any trunk load which can add up fast. Then take the high speeds the E63 can get up to and it can make for a less than ideal situation. At least that's what they told me. Eh, maybe it was a legal liability thing?!?

Anyhow, didn't mean to threadjack. I've had all sorts of fun in the snow as well but I'll keep the antics relegated to my 4 wheel drive cars

Both the LM-32 and LM-60 have load rating that is equivalent to the recommended load rating in the manual for winter tires. Maybe just showing them the manual?!
