what are the wides wheel/tire combo that can fit a 12 E63 wagon
I am looking to get 20" wheels and wanted to see what is the widest and tallest tire I can put on a staggered set of 20x9.5 / 20x10.5 (or similar set)? I called HRE and they mentioned that I didn't want to go beyond 295 on the width? Any thoughts? Thanks guys.

weistec uses 295 30 20 in rear, and 265 35 20 in rear, basically M 5 tires, Lowered car , needed mods to prevent rubbing....but u get a nice sidewall, otherwise just drop the ratio size down 5

im running a 19/9.5 19/11 HRE wheel. they now.. thanks to me have the set up. i drove down there 2 hours and had Roy ( the master measurer) measure exactly.he put the car up with load and got under there and measured perfectly. I'm pretty sure any more rubberin the rear is real risky.also much taller then stock so speedo issues. I am interested in how this set up works after lowering. Roy swears i will have no rubbing but i'm telling you guys its tight! i am running a 295/30/19 Michelin pilot super sport. (great tire) fronts are 255/35. again a hair of stretch.
The 11 stretches the tire a hair but no more then a stock m5 set up. its allot of rubber.
I haven't installed the KW springs or the renntec module yet as my local renntec dealer is backed up until Tuesday. i do have the parts though so Tuesday i will get lowered and dialed in. i will spare you the Tonka look!
i will post Tuesday once its all done.
by the way i have a wagon as well. 2012 E63 black on black. no performance package.
My alignment guy uses scales for corner balancing, hes done other cars for me. Not that im tacking this beast but cool to know the actual weight with gas and me in it. Oh and some recaro kids seats lol
call Sato at HRE for the exact offsets.
ask about the new carbon fiber centers caps. i got a set, there real nice!

19s work better as far as performance and you don't have to run rubber bands for tires. 20/10.5 will require a 25 series side wall and it's still taller then stock.
If anything Iay go 265 in the front on the next set of tires. But the car is so tail happy that I don't want to increase the width up front. It makes the rear step out even more!
Watch for pics Tuesday. It looks sick!

Well I'm in Southern California. Specifically pacific palisades 90272. In LA. So not much need for bad weather rubber. But I guess since I am keeping my stock wheels I could always through some winter rubber on there. In my old audi S4 back in 2002 I'd run blizzacks on the stockers for runs up to mammoth mountain to go snowboarding.
That car charged in snow.
I have a Quattro Q7 as well so that's the bad weather car.

I ran a 295x25x20 on a 20x10 HRE P45 on my wagon (2012 E63)... The et was 39 and man it was out there and close to rubbing but it didnt and my car was lowered. I did use Hankooks to get a more rounded sidewall and I hear you can run a 10.5 rear with a higher offset but a 305 wont happen very easily.

Again I know your car and while it looks sick in photos and your car was actually on my desktop until I got mine, I'm concerned about the performance of a 25 series tire.
We spoke via private message, and while appreciated all your advice I decided to go 19. The 11 in the rear looks meaty to say the least It definitely hooks up way better now. I could barely keep the rears planted off the line. Stock tires were'nt great either however still have 35 percent on them.
And by the way the 19/11 with a 295/30 is lighter still then stock. I put the wheels on myself with the jack that came with the car and hand tools.... OOF not fun! But No impact hammer or power tools on my new HREs. I couldn't believe the night and day difference as I lifted the stocks off and the new ones on.
Just my 2 cents... if you want it work the best run 19s if you want looks go 20 and hope your roads are smooth. Here in LA they suck!

Thanks- I was responding to the OP here and his/her question about width. I never came here to push a 20 inch wheel. Either way IMHO the best width to avoid rubbing is 295 whether you run 20's or 19's is your call.
I run my cars hard, very hard. The wagon was no different and 25 series tires have been proven over quite some time now to be safe at speed and in turns. Your mileage may differ... I have a lot of mileage though LOL.
