It's time for you to return to E63 and reintroduce a 4-door back into your stable.

Yeah, that front is really an acquired taste. The rear detached and poorly integrated exhaust tips is another downside. Also I dislike the loss of the Ponton line. Overall, it's sad to see the angular, raw appearance of the original design gone.

Porsche 911 Turbo S 2014! E63S 14, Audi S8 13, CLS63 12, E550 12, C63 09, all tuned
Spirit of the thread. E63S is the better drivers car. I have an S8 APR tuned.
Fabulous drive train. I have never driven a RS 7 but I have to assume steering
feel is similar. The big difference is the all wheel drive systems of E63S vs RS7.
Audi Quatro system moves TQ around to all 4 wheels at a 30/70 to 70/30 ratios.
E63S has fixed 33/67 F/R.
I just tracked my E63S Renntech tuned with down pipes with 200 cell cats, Saturday. The performance was nothing but ASTONISHING, on Hoosiers 265/295 19s R6 s.

I use OE because he is local to me and has been tuning my cars since 2003:

CL65
E55
M3
M6 (E63)
E63 (sedan)
997.1 Turbo
997.2 Turbo
E63 W212 Wagon Bi Turbo
CLS63 Bi Turbo
C63 Black Series
SL63 Bi Turbo

But I don't look for max tunes as I usually run very driveable and reliable intermediate tunes so I don't have issues with spark plugs or other things. These tunes have been very good to me with no issues and strong gains but not outlandish ones. EG: my SL on a dyno dynamics tune only is right about 570 whp and 660 wtq. I have seen many other tuners get more (on different dynos and different conditions) but that's ok with me.

Great thread. Both great cars. Prefer the E63 especially in the stealth wagon aspect. The RS7 is fast, but in some ways a wild animal and really need to work harder to tame. Just my opinion......I do have both in my stable of cars......

Based on the posted video... The rs7 pulls nicely on that panamera... Would suggest it's quicker than those posted numbers ... Love the rs7 and it's 20" rims

I kick the tail out on the 63s routinely ... Sport or all traction off setting in s or s+ and hang on...

They got the top-speed wrong on the summary at the end. Limiter raised from 155mph to 186mph. I'd like to test that out on das Autobahn! Or a long runway.

Yes
The RS7 is amazing....challenge is when you option it out, due to Audis unfavorable lease terms you're talking about a 40% premium over the E63, just not worth it.

Golden,

curious about how you see the handling/steering feel between the two, I went from an S4 to the '14 E63 wagon and I prefer the benz a lot more. Tested S6 and felt same; not the RS7.

Audi has the drive select, and I had it on dynamic for "best" road feel; however it felt a lot more superficial than the one on the benz.

The Benz is pure class, planted and with the 4 wheel drive, not the typical oversteer you feel on the audi; pure controllable fear and fun. The Audi is more typical of the Audi in all the sport variants. Have to overcome its shortcomings. You have to be more careful, The steering and handling is not as true. RS7 is fun in a straight line, when you have to handle sharp turns, you have to really work for it. The Benz is more stealthy!

I love to drive my Benz, if I can get the keys from my lady! Otherwise, I drive the Audi. If I would take one to the track, it wound be the Benz, hands down! The wagon is my daily driver until my CL is repaired - bumper issue and the lady has the S. Can't really complain.

What a great write up! Stoked for you and your new car. Will say this. Agree with most of what you said. However, I love the handling on my w212 e63s wagon. Daily ride might be too harsh but who cares when I can carve in our wagon on demand? Please post more on your comparisons, thanks!s
