2011 E63 - AMG performance package
Mine is the extended factory warranty, my in service date was 3\10. According to the person I bought my warranty from. If you buy the car from a franchised MB dealer and the car has not been CPO'd it is not eligible for the factory extended warranty. So if you buy the car from a private owner or other non MB dealership it is eligible. Hope this helps.
2 ways to get OEM MB warranty.
1) Buy CPO - and you get 5 yrs from in-service date with an option to extend another 2-3 years before those 5 yrs expire.
2) Buy brand new car- extend warranty by 2-3 years before the end of 4 years of ownership.
Buy car under warranty from original owner or dealer - The warranty will last 4 yrs from the in-service date with no option to buy OEM MB extended warranty.
correct.

Ok, one more time. This info comes from a finance rep of a large MB dealership in California. All MB warranties are for an additional 3 years, for a max of 7 years, from the in service date. The difference in price will be for the additional miles you want to be covered for. I can't remember the limit on the additional mileage but it starts at 75k miles. I don't know if this 7 year rule applies to a CPOD car.
1. Buy a new car, at the time of purchase you will be offered the MB extended warranty which is 3 years. If you turn it down you can still purchase it at a later date as long as you still have the original warranty on the car. You will be charged a 15% surcharge for not buying it at the time of purchase.
2. Buy a CPOD car, it comes with an additional 1 year warranty for a total of 5 years from the in service date (mileage not known by me) your eligible for the MB warranty as long as the car is still covered by the original MB warranty, Length and mileage limits are unknown by me, but I would guess the length will be for an extra 2 years. I don't know if the surcharge applies.
3 Buy the car from a private owner or non MB dealership, you will be able to purchase the 3 year MB warranty. You will be charged the 15% surcharge.
4. Buy the car from a franchised MB dealership and it has never been CPOD and it IS NOT eligible for the MB warranty.

I still really really hope that I am wrong - and you are correct.
I don't know which info troubles you, but my car falls under 3 above and I know 4 is correct because that was what she told me as she entered my VIN in to the system. Don't trust everything a dealership tells you. I bought the car in Chi- town and I live in Iowa. I did not inquire about a warranty when I bought the car. After I was home for awhile I went to my local MB dealer and asked the finance manager about the warranty. She told me that since I was not the original owner I did not qualify for a MB warranty but that she had 3rd party warranty companies I could get coverage from. I think the reason for that was the profit was greater from the 3rd party companies. What she didn't know was that most 3rd party warranty companies black ball the AMG and won't cover them. While I was there she said she was having trouble with the computer system and she would e-mail me the quotes. When I checked my e-mail she had replied that the warranty companies she applied to would not cover the AMG, but she had pulled some strings with corporate and she could now offer me the OEM MB warranty and gave me a quote. Does that sound funny to you?) People on this board directed me to the California MB dealership (sorry, I thought the dealership was in Texas but after looking at my contract it is in CA.) Without any bartering what so ever she gave me a price that was over a $1000 cheaper than the quote from my local dealership. If you want I can give you her contact and telephone information. This quote was for a 2010 E63 AMG. I do not know if this info is correct for any other model.

This is only my thoughts and is not written in stone. I don't know what the cost is to CPO a car. But I think the cost is checking all the major components and replacing all the parts that don't fall within factory spec (which would be covered under the original warranty) checking that all the required maintenance had been performed, the cost of 1 year of extended warranty and of course the dealer mark up. I paid around 3 grand for the 3 year extension with coverage up to 75k miles. They also offer higher mileage limits for additional costs. I don't know if I saved the prices for the higher mileage options, but will look if you want me to. I Can also give you the name and number for the person I bought my warranty from. It was $1000 cheaper than all the other quotes I got.
It's amazing that person was able to get a MB warranty for a non-original owner on a non-CPO car. From what I have heard in the past, that was not possible. I have total of 7 years/135K miles. As of now, I think 75K should be adequate...for now, maybe.

I'm not understanding something. If you already have coverage for 7/135k then you already have the MB extended warranty. The max coverage in years of the OEM extended warranty is 7 years from the in service date. At 135K I think your maxed out on mileage to. I think the story of a non original owner, non CPO'D car not being eligible for the OEM extended warranty is a lie told by dealerships to sell you a more profitable 3rd party warranty.
