Looking to be E63 (non-S), need advice on pricing
Hi,
As per my sig's, had a bad couple experiences with the '14 E550, transmission issues, and would be willing to roll the dice once again on a benz, but this time an E63 (don't care for the extra 'S stuff and would rather save that money)
How much have people been getting off MSRP, I've also been shopping some slightly used ones as well.
Anyone know what 7yr/100k warranty would be on this car?
Thanks in advance

I've been following your saga with interest. Glad you are staying with MB. Since I am in Canada, I can't tell you about pricing. Get your dealer / MBUSA to give you a big discount for your troubles with your last 2 cars. It's the least they can do.

thanks benyl -- that's a good point, I should hit up the dealer or MBUSA to get me a discount; however they more than made up for any inconvenience by letting me 1) have a new replacement with no OOP costs, and 2) replaced all my funds back into my wallet.
I figure I'm at square one now. Perhaps they'll kick me a little something just because of the issues I've had though, as you suggest
thanks

IMHO, I cannot fathom buying a non-S E63. Unless you're going to tune it.
Down the road, the resale is going to really hurt not having those extra ponies under the hood.
I drove a Non-S down at COTA this past weekend. I can't say that I noticed the power deficiency or the open rear diff compared to my street-driven S, but the next guy is going to car. A lot.
Just look at all the threads of guys looking for the earlier PP cars....
We're talking about the difference between a little under a hundred $K or a little over a hundred $K.
$0.02

Non -S for me also.. I am in the market too
put a tune on the car and have the same power as the -S and maybe a LSD.
I can see that AWD be a PITA and nothing but problems in the future.
Plus what I am going to do with my drag radials....:-)RWD all the way

Peter, with a E63 you have a similar trans as an E550 with a whole lot more power pushed through it. Smoothness is not the main objective. You might like aS550 or S600 .

Keeping my fingers crossed that you find one that you like Peter. The E63 is certainly an awesome ride and quite the consolation price for the trouble you have had with the E550s.

Just read your saga on E550 forums and I have to say I admire your resilience Peter! I sure hope there is one MB out there for you!

thanks kart... I appreciate your feedback. I believe in this brand and the quality potential of this car, and I wish I wasn't in love with the E-class... it would be cheaper and easier on my mind! ..hence looking into the E63 now...

OT, but I read your both sagas and wow...you have patience.
To give you some confidence, I have 50k on my GLK and it gave me zero problems over 5 years (ok navi screen died once under warranty). I didn't even bother with extended warranty. Hopefully the complexities of AMG cars will keep it somewhat reliable as well. I'm considering are used AMG.

Hey guys --
SolidGranite and I test drive a black/black-beige E63S, stickered for 106,000.
Impressions: has a bit of a slight shudder when slowing down that seems to be normal for the MCT gear box. Shifts are "pop - pop" quick! No CLUNK!! whoo hoo!! The car in comfort mode and comfort shifting was very smooth, way smoother than my E550.
The best they're giving me now is $10k off MSRP .. I think I should get better. They have a few on the lot. Shouldn't I get more.
I'm actually more interested in a black/black they have listed for $111,000 as it has the full distronic package and carbon fiber interior. If I got this for 100k, TTL will be $8k, and service plan and warranty will be $7k, total of $115k -- exactly $35k more than the E550 with fully loaded options plus service and warranty plans.
What do you all think? I know in general cars are not an investment financially -- however aren't they an investment in you and your passions -- in that grin I get when I sit inside and fire up that TT5.5 engine?
Curious to hear your thoughts.

Peter I am glad you like it - MB certainly owes you one. If I could swing an E63 I would buy one in a heart beat.
