'14 E63S, '13 G550, '06 E320 cdi, and a bunch of other stuff.
Noise coming from the brakes may indicate many different things, but unless you're on the backing plates, worn brake pads isn't at the top of my list.
There are (reusable) sensors to detect that minimum brake pad thickness has been reached. Even better, take off your wheels and check both pads on each corner. Look at the top, bottom, leading and trailing edges. Use a good light and stick your head in there to really see what is going on.
If the pads are good, then you probably need to just re-bed the pads.
