2012 E63 - how do I get 'S' performance?
Hello,
It's been a while since I've been on here.
I know of the P30 option, or what is now the S for later model years, and I did some digging - but I haven't found what I need. It's difficult to come up with a search string that will work.
My understanding is the P30 option includes a few items, but my main interest is in the HP and torque upgrades. In looking at some non-P30 cars for sale - what would be entailed in getting that extra power out of the stock engine?
I would appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you.

What then did MB do to get the extra power? I'm assuming it's more than a tune, but maybe not.

Nope it's just in the tuning they did with the P30 or S models that up the twin turbo boost I believe to a shade over 19 psi from around 13 psi. Most tunes will be even more than this plus a few other things and the tuned care will produce more power than the P30 or S model. So if you were planning a tune anyway no sense in buying a p30 model in a 2012. A couple other things you get with the P30 package is the carbon fiber engine cover and the red calipers both of which I'm sure could be pretty easily added to a non P30 model. If nothing else just powder coat the Calipers red.

I know I'll have to do some research to choose - but what's popular these days for brands/shops, and general pricing? Side note - many years (17) ago I had a C43, and I looked at a Brabus long block. Holy smokes - it was around 40k, and I didn't pay a whole lot more for the car than that. I think the car stickered in the mid-50s. Not worth it for the increase...
Okay - I like stock looking vehicles - no mods, so I'm cool with the standard looking calipers and the engine cover. Thank you, however, for pointing that out.

About the most reasonable tune is the Eurocharge tune, I think it's around 1200 bucks. Beyond that most tunes for these cars are 2 to 4 grand, I think the Renntech is around 3 grand or so. I'm pretty happy with mine stock although someday may do a Eurocharge tune if I get the itch for more speed.

The 2014 E63 runs boost of 0.9 bar, or about 13 PSI, and the 2014 E63 S runs boost of 1.0 bar, or about 14.5 PSI. I'm pretty sure you'd blow things apart at 19 PSI.
I'm not sure if the internals of the non-P30 versions differ than the P30 (i.e. forged rods / pistons).

Have seen several articles talk about 19psi on the S, guess they're wrong....

I have a question for anyone who can answer - to hijack my own thread. For the 2012 - and believe me I did some digging and still don't have an answer. Were the 5-spoke wheels an option, or were the 10-spoke wheels an option?
Thank you.

I think the 10 spoke wheels were standard and the 5 spoke wheels were an option because I dont' see anything on my window sticker about optional wheels and I have the 10 spoke. Personally I kinda like the look of the 10 spoke wheel better and from what I heard, they cost 1900 each to replace, I hope I never curb one. Anybody know the replacement cost of the 5 spoke wheels?

I have the silver 10 spoke .... I also have the tire/wheel warranty because I know I'll damage these eventually
I like them better than the five spoke which are a 1900.00 or so upgrade
1900.00 each to replace these rims sounds like silly dealer fear talk.... Trying to get u to buy the tire wheel warranty. I got Mbusa to buy mine otherwise I wouldn't have bought it

Well I don't think the dealer is too far off because here are 4 wheels just like mine on ebay @ 1500 bucks a piece. To match up a damaged wheel would not be cheap. I'm extra careful with this car especially with the low profile tires it would be so easy to damage a rim. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/150965191424?lpid=82

Okay - that's what I thought: the 10-spoke are standard. I like them as well.
As for the damaging a wheel, there are wheel repair shops that can straighten, TIG weld cracks, and fill gouges, paint, etc. You shouldn't have to buy a new one.

Bringing this back up-the P30 package in 2012 was ECU reprogramming, red calipers, specific wheels, and performance steering wheel, correct? Nothing for brakes/suspension/rear end? Looking at a car now that I plan to tune, but doesn't have the P30 nor separate LSD option.

I have a 2010 and I just replaced a optional 5 spoke AMG 19 inch rim. It cost me $2500.
