Anybody know how much Benz charges at the dealer to do the latest update? My car is a 2012 with the original maps, I'd like to update it with the 2014 or even 2015 US if it's out yet and maybe get a oil change at the same time.
I have an email offer from MBUSA that expires today.

$249 for the update disc. Free shipping. Offer was specific to our 2006 W211.

Here's a link to the Merc map update site:

Nope it says my 2012 E class wagon is not valid for the offer. Even that sounds like a lot of money, maybe I'll check ebay for a disc and just do it myself if I can get one. I don't want to spend more than what you listed in the above link. If it's much more I think I'll just leave it alone as at least most roads I travel since 2012 are still the same and I don't do much city driving. Thanks for posting the link though anyhow. I thought it would be more like 150 bucks or something, guess the map designers gotta make their money though.

There might be a different offer (URL) for the W212. Maybe.

If we weren't getting ready to unload the W211, I'd probably update it. Those maps are close to ten yrs old at this point.

My dealer quoted me a price of $250 for the software. It takes 2 hours to install though you don't have to watch it much after it starts the update (I installed it myself) so don't know what they would charge for labor. I'd sell you mine for half price but it won't work on yours. Good luck

Thanks LJ. Anybody have a 2014 disc that they have used and want to sell it to me for half price for my 2012 212? Sounds like a pretty simple install as long as it's the right disc that will work on my 212?

I understand the original poster's issue

I see the OP's point. You can't see the smaller streets' names unless you go to full zoom in, and sometimes you still don't get them. Also, when you look for a point of interest, it does not come back with a lot. Yes, I use the Send to Benz feature a lot. It allows me to find the POI's that the system does not seem to be able to do.

That's my point, why don't they install the same system on the cars that they use for the send to benz feature. I would be willing to pay to upgrade to a Nav system worked well and there are a lot of good Nav systems out there.

I believe Send to Benz utilizes Google's search features and has the entire internet to search from. It would make sense that it can find pretty much anything that exists.

There are always going to be drawbacks and compromises in cars. The AMG cars have great performance, but there is some lacking in the technology. There is clearly a lot of choice in the marketplace. I guess you have to figure out what is important and then make your choice

Your right, I checked out the performance specs, driveline specs, reliability but never once inquired about the Nav sys and I'm dam sure not going to sell it because of it. It probably wouldn't have drawn any comments from me if it hadn't recently took me on a tour of all the cow paths in Wis. And I really can't blame that on the sys as I think my daughter may have accidently changed some settings on it when she was messing with it.

No, I don't know if changing the settings would make a difference. I drove my son's 2013 Charger R/T for two days this week and the navigation is light years ahead of what's in the MB. My favorite is that it automatically zooms in closer when your average speed slows down. That, plus the fact that it finds pretty much any business I put in to it. In the MB I can find a curry restaurant in Bankok, but I cant find a framing store in Thousand Oaks.

My 2013 M5 had fantastic graphics on the NAV but multiple times directed me to the wrong location (one time by over a mile).

My son has a 2014 300s and comparing the Nav systems between his and mine you would think I was driving a ford focus. I think my daughter some how changed the settings from fastest route to shortest route. So if all of a sudden your Nav sys starts taking you down some scenic cow paths you might want to check your settings.

The Jeep/Chrysler 2014 NAV is one of the best I've used. Very good voice recognition for navi entry. Remote start from a smartphone app is very handy during the winter...

Is there an update available to bring a 2011 Navigation system up to date. I'm not talking to updated maps. I would like a new system to update to 2015 specs.

Yes. It's called trading your 2011 E63 for a 2015 E63.

That would be one expensive navigation system.

The old headunit can also be upgraded to the new one. Expect to write a blank check for that one until these cars start getting a little older and you can find used COMAND units on eBay for a few hundred dollars.
