So I have a new lead on an what the dealer calls "NEW" 2014 with 1350 miles. Car has never been titled but was part of the driving academy.
It has CC brakes, CF int and ext with a MSRP of $120k+.
First what do you think? 1000 miles of track use is a lot for me. They are saying car was properly maintained with new tires etc.... Would you be afraid to buy one of these fleet cars? What I don't understand is how come the car has never been titled?
Second how much do you think I should ask off MSRP? If everything checks out I'm thinking about offering $100k for it. Is it too much low ball?

$100k - I'd start at $95k -- what do you have to lose??? nothing
It ain't going anywhere fast. It's not titled because it was owned by benz, i presume, and never officially delivered to a customer.
1350 hard miles on that car, but the AMG can take it... $95k is a good starting number. I wouldn't buy a track car, but I know many will come on and tell you that's it's perfectly fine. There's gunna be plenty of 2014 used S model E63's coming up with low miles (under 5k) that were not track cars and driven much less aggressively. And these will be had for $80k to $90k depending options and dealer attitude

Thanks for the comment.
Yeah I know there will be more cars coming by the end of the year in about 2-3 months time. Would I be patient to wait until that point... I don't know... time will tell.
I'll take your advice and start my negotiation at $95k and see what they say. Car has a build date of 02/14 but I don't know how long it has been on the dealer's showroom and I don't trust what they say

First. Do the installed options have any value for you?
The base price of the car was under $100K.
If you don't value the options at close to retail, then I would begin at $90K and work slowly up from there.... And of course, demand that it be CPO'd.
$0.02

Well the CF bits and CCB are options that I'm looking for. Although not necessarily the CCB but it is nice to have them on a car I feel I can get a good price for.
The problem with CPO is dealer won't do it on a technically new car since it was not titled. Hence the pre-owned designation does not apply somehow

To the best of my understanding... AMGDA doesn't use E63S. They have the CLS63S and the E63 in the fleet.
I didn't see any E63S when I was at COTA in the Spring. In fact, I drove one of the maybe two base E63 there.

Well I have the build sheet and it says E63P on it. So I don't know. The sales person said the mileage was due to car being tested. So I asked was it for AMG driving academy and they replied yes. According to them they have the car for month now

If they are selling you the car as the first owner, you should be able to buy the MB extended new car warrantee. Expect to pay around $3,600 for a 7 year, 100K mile, MB warrantee (that is what I paid). Or you could negotiate that into the purchase price discount.
Search this site and you will find dealers who discount the warrantee if the dealer you are dealing with will not meet approximately this cost (or cover the cost of the warrantee themselves to "sweeten the deal").
One participant on this site posted: "MBUSA extended limited warranty. I bought the 5 yr 75k when i picked up my E63P a couple weeks ago for $2269, knowing i could shop around for a better deal in my first 30 days. After 30 days they tack on an additional 15% to the purchase price. I decided to get the 7yr 100k, price at my dealer (initially quoted $4999) when pushed to max $4299, second price check different dealer $3749 and best dealer I can find is $3599 (MB of Austin TX Dan Boone is the director of finance 512-454-6821). While I did not go for 7yr 125k, prices were $6199, $4367 and $4220 The mark up on this stuff must be huge, be careful all. Hope this helps folks save $. I will put the $700 saved to good use on winter wheels and tires"

I got a 7/75k elw warranty for $2600 from dan Boone. And my car was "used" with 85 miles ... It's all the same to Mbusa, so long as it's put in the star database correctly

That 7y/75 or 100k miles ELW is 7 years/XXX k miles on top of the factory warranty/mileage? or Overall?
It is always confusing me

I would be reluctant to buy a car that was part of the driving academy. All the components esp the new engine would get beat to **** by so much tracking. I wonder how much of the super expensive CCB pads and rotors were consumed by all that super heavy braking. I would not start above $85k.

Just make sure that CCB is not right on the borderline spec where any further would require replacing the rotors.
