*VIDEO* E63 Alpha 7 Endurance Testing – ELEVEN 10 Second Passes In One Night.
Test and tune nights are pretty straight forward, you drive the car to the track, wait in line, make a few passes throughout the night and go home. On a hot, muggy July evening we took the shop 2014 Alpha 7 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG 4matic to our local track, Great Lakes Dragway to make some data acquisition runs before installing our new Alpha Boost Cooler system.
Rain was predicted for the evening and track attendance reflected the forecast, there were very few cars running leaving the staging lanes wide open. Getting right to it Paul staged the E63 M157 BiTurbo and made a quick shakedown pass at 10.92.
We checked the logs and continued to run the car making multiple 10 second passes. After making a few consistent passes most people would be satisfied and call it a night, but we had another idea, just how many 10 second passes could we run that night? The goal was set at 10 to test the consistency of our Alpha 5.5L BiTurbo tune.
Pass after pass was made throughout the night and we exceeded our goal by making ELEVEN 10 second passes with a best of 10.87 @ 128.28mph, only two hundredths of a second off our current 4Matic record.
Each of the 11 passes the Alpha powered AMG made was within .099 seconds and 1.32 mph of each other. In addition, the 0-60 times were all 2.86 seconds verified by the V-Box Sport. Talk about consistency!
Overall we are very pleased with the results from the Alpha 7 5.5L BiTurbo package. It has proven it is capable of beating exotic cars like the McLaren MP4-12c and has performed flawlessly during all our testing. This package has been amazingly consistent and we look forward to going back to the track once the Alpha Boost Cooler system is installed and improving on our current best of 10.85 @ 129mph.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Lower temps and good DA I'd think 10.5's would be possible. You should do some bracket racing with that car as consistent as it seems to be, you'd probably win some money.

It was running unleaded race fuel. The turbochargers are already maxed out on the pump gas tune, and we do not alter boost on a race gas tune. The only thing you can do is add a little timing, which is good for about 15-20whp on the dyno.

I have been going back and forth in my head as to whether to get your tune or the Renntech tune. Mine will be a daily driver so I am not considering the turbo upgrade. Outstanding results from a tune plus downpipe plus exhaust.

Those are crazy fast results for a tuned 4500 pound sedan with no turbo upgrade. Bravo!

I have noticed driving it stock vs tuned, it actually drives a bit smoother WITH our tune on it

What I mean by daily driver is that I own one car at a time and I use that car pretty much every day and I want the components in terms of the engine and the drivetrain to last as many miles as possible. So for me a tune would probably be about as much additional load on those components as I would take.
I would love a turbo upgrade but I would think that would shorten the life of the engine and drivetrain components given the massive additional power produced. I want the upgrades for a more powerful daily drive and not for drag strip battles.
Happy your company is giving so much attention to the M157 engine. Your results on the GT-R are astonishing.

One thing that I've noticed about stock is if you floor the accelerator from a standing start there is a delay or throttle lag before power is applied. Does the tune address that?

These cars are the ultimate DD with 4matic! and when bumped up to 700hp and 830tq (tune only) they become insane!
http://tuning.alphaperformance.com/p...matic-biturbo/
We have quite a few customers with tune only using them for DD purposes, all of them are very, very happy with the results and how the car feels.
We will be doing the turbo upgrade on our 4matic car after a couple more new products are ready to go. For what it's worth, our black RWD 2012 has had the turbo upgrade on it for over a year and the car has held up with no issues.
The GT-R is also another crazy platform, we just had a customer run 8.22 @ 179mph this past weekend...a street car!

I'm really interested in a tune for my '12 wagon, but I can't help but think there is significant wear/tear with an extra 120hp. I have the Mercedes 7yr/135k warrantee on this, and I know "you have to pay to play", but how sure can I be that owning this car for 10 years with a AMS tune on it is a good idea?
If you had to do a "10 year tune", how much power would it add?

I want...
Not to be obtuse here (apologies in advance), but did you use Launch Control (RS)? I thought your earlier post a few weeks back had said you did not. The salesman who sold me my car told me about the MB tech who told them they could use it over and over w/o problems, but with the higher output from your upgrades, does the use of RS damage anything in the tranny? The video doesn't sound like your mashing the gas on RS starts like here...
Nice work, gents.
