Depreciation. Wow!!

Hi All,
New/old to the forum. Used to lurk a few years ago. Now in the market for an E63 S. Found a virtually new non-S 2014 for $78,000. That is kick in the wallet.

There's no demand for non-S.

That car probably stickered for $93K, likely sold for $88-89K. Doesn't seem like that bad depreciation for a vehicle that should not have been offered for sale in the first place.IMO.

Essentially a new 2014 non s that is hands down a superior performance car to the e550 which would sticker new for $75-78k nicely loaded ... Plus I think this mct is superior to the crap 7g tronic traditional transmission of the e550

Id take that car for $74k before ttl

The funny part is that if you tune the car it makes exactly the same amount of power whether it started off as an S or not. The big performance difference to me is the non-S lacks the limited slip differential although it was an option for 2014. It will not be an option for 2015. I could not envision tuning the car to 700 hp and not having a limited slip differential and given that the torque split is so heavily biased toward the rear at 67%.

the NON S gets a bad rap.......its basically the 2012/13 performance pack motor tune

i guess u dont get the lsd, but unless your tracking the car, your getting a heck of deal

Absolutely correct. But be sure in addition to the tune they install a limited slip diff to handle the 700 Bhp and 830 lbs-ft of torque that AMS says its tune produces.

Per the 2014 DOG, the LSD (Option code 471) was N/A for the base E63.

Nor will it be available for 2015.

im not saying its not worth it to tune it, buttt Benz shouldve never split the two into S and non S....for a mere 7k the S is worth it to many buyers who want the little things like embossed head rest, an inhouse tune basically, LSD, body changes, different standard wheels. I think they shouldve just made one car that was the S and not offer the non S. But if i were in the market for a 14 AMG, i would save the 30k from a new one and get the one that the OP posted!!

I drove both...no difference to me. Besides the LSD, the little things really didn't matter to me. I'm very happy with my non-S.

Isn't that car blue and has 300 miles on it?
Either way that is a great deal if you plan on tune + LSD as others mentioned.
I'm in the market too but looking for a white one with all CF goodies

Blue with beige interior iirc. So I think part of the issue may be it's a less popular color combo.

Good price now... But you gotta consider resale in a few years ... Easier to unload an S with a more popular color ...

When i test drove a non s i felt the engine response is faster compared to

to s model, maybe it is just me.I felt the immediacy and i asked a few people

about it and they said the torque starts at about 200 rpm earlier. He

could be right i am not sure. This is why i have this non s and i do not really

care about resale i bought this car for keeps. To each his own.

Never drove the non S but it's still a sweet car and one of the fastest sedans on the planet ... And it's an amg

Let me ask this...

If you tune a NON S and you tune an S

At the end of the day does their hp and torque match?

Or you CAN tune a non S and get gains, but you can't tune an S as there isn't anything else to gain?

Then my question would be... for those who want an inhouse tune with warranty... spend the $7k.

If you tune an S and a NON S their final numbers will be the same.

The clear advantage to me was $7k extra and I got a warranty b2b from Benz and elw warranty with the hp/tq bump for the s model. The LSD was a factor as well but in reality a guy like me will never appreciate it.
