Correct. AMS's best quarter mile ET for its 2014 E63 with its Alpha 7 package (tune/exhaust/downpipes) is 10.85.

Note that the AMS exhaust and downpipes are not available for purchase yet but I am sure will be soon.

I have not seen a tune only E63 S break into the 10s. A Renntech full tune only 2014 E63 with race gas and street tires does the quarter mile in about 11 seconds flat (
) and I would expect the same result from an AMS tune only E63 S as they produce about the same power levels.

If you want to break into the high tens with the car you need the downpipes/exhaust.

Correct! RS7 is crazy fast. Although around a track give me the E63 any day over the front heavy Audi.

Mail in flashes perhaps. But a dyno tune car vs a mail in flash will go to the dyno tuned car for power likely.

Box tunes are almost always more conservative to keep the customer's engine safe without potentially running too lean and burning pistons. Dynos allow finer tuning of all the engine parameters to extract the maximum (safe) potential out of the motor which results in higher HP & TQ numbers but unfortunately the tuners don't have dyno shops everywhere to make it convenient for a drive up tune.

Yes it is annoying that not one major AMG tuner is based in the NYC metro area. South Florida has Renntech. Chicago has AMS. Houston has Eurocharged. SoCal has Weistec.

I'm considering tune via Alpha Performance for my '14 E63AMG S wagon. Can anybody confirm that the owner of A.P. drives a tuned '14 E63AMG S sedan as his daily driver?

My primary hesitation with tune is longer term reliability accompanied with likely warranty issues. There is of course the perpetual conflict between "needs" vs "wants" too but that discussion takes place on a whole different forum/site I bet.

I like that Alpha appears to be receptive to dialing in the tune to customer specifications say to 60%-80% of maximum. Not that it would help in the warranty discussions with Mercedes/AMG at all but the added stresses are marginalized at least.

Interesting topic on MBWorld though....not that Carbon Fiber aftermarket mirror housings aren't enough.

To the extent that MB links a specific failure leading to a repair to a modification they will not honor the warranty for that repair.

Yes no question that tuning poses that risk. But it is so tempting because there is almost no other engine that gives such massive gains with just a tune and bolt ons.

Daily drivers that can seat 5 and have a nice big trunk don't really get much better than a tuned E63 S.
