Alpha/AMS performance tune long term update
Sup guys been a while been busy with work and have been driving my car a lot thought I'd post up an update on my tuned m157. Some of u may know I had a tuned 13 which I logged 17 k miles on b4 selling for a 14 4matic.
Got the 14 immediately dynotuned by alpha performance I'm now at 9500 miles nearing 10k.
What a perfect tune. I've driven the car in every season, and its just flawless. I'm addicted to the torque to the point that my gtr just sits and collects dust.
The AMS tune has been honed to perfection, when I tuned my car it was shifting harshly 2-3 in sport plus, Martin the president discovered that the factory tune cuts boost/fuel between shifts more aggressively as u go from s to s+, to give u a sensation of a firmer sportier shift, with over 700 lbs the shift felt very abrupt they fine tuned it to perfection.
Car has run nearly 10k miles on AMS tune with no hiccups. Driveability and reliability are exceptional. No changing spark plugs, no check engine lights, no drilling the ecu, just no bull****
The power the custom tune makes is fkng insane. I get tired of cars quick and get rid of them, in as little as 8 months to a year. I am completely addicted to this car. It's the jack of all trades and AMS tune pays homage to the degree of engineering that goes into these cars themselves. Whenever I get the itch and I drive something else (with the exception of alpha modded cars) they all feel completely gutless and anemic.
Anyways. Get ur cars tuned!!! We live in good times rolling around in 700 lb ft to the wheels cars. My recommendation is to skip canned tunes and go for a custom dyno tune. After 10,000 miles of chicago commuting i can say if u want peace of mind, take your car to alpha performance, #donezo

What's your daily driving mpg with the tune?

Has anyone done a non-custom tune...i.e. where they didnt visit AMS and bought the off the shelf option? I wouldn't mind a road trip to Chicagoland to get it done right...but didn't know if there was a suitable replacement in the NYC area.

Thank you Asim! I love that it has been so fun and usable that the GT-R has been almost put on the shelf. I honestly can't think of a better dd than an ALPHA tuned E63!

I sent my ECU off to AMS on my '12 e63 this week, quick turnaround time. Got it back today and all I can say is WOW! Already put 400 miles on the car today and I am throughly impressed.

Dr.SS is local to us so he brought us his car. We have a couple of dealers in your area but none of them would be able to do a custom tune. We need the ecu here to open it and flash it.

The reality of these tunes is that anecdotal feedback on long term updates is great.. no problems, car is driving well, no CEL's or hiccups... but there are too few people with them, and too few that report back after 10k, 20k, 70k miles to know what the true long term reliability is.
It IS nice to know that you've had a good experience thus far, but I'm always curious what happens when something bad happens (hope NOT you) and benz refuses to cover the part/item/system and how does AMS then support their customer.
Have read horror stories from Renntech and Weistec, and also good stories ... each case can be a bit individualized, therefore it's so hard to read into the threads to truly know who is to blame and who should compensate (if at all) the customer after vehicle damage.
Nonetheless, and to reiterate, I'm glad you're happy with it and that the car is driving well.

Based on all the YouTube videos I have seen with 2014 e63's tuned only it seems 1/4 mile is about 11.1-11.3 and that puts 0/60 at about 3.0 considering car mag testers got a best of 3.3 stock in the 2014 E63 S model

I see your point, but one thing people need to Understand is that modifying your car is not a risk less endeavor. You must understand that. If you can stomach the risk and have means to deal with consequences then you should do due diligence and find a vendor that is reputable. In my opinion and in my dealings AMS is the most reputable. This is why I posted a review, to add to the fund of reviewa for other people who are ready to ale the jump know who the reputable vendors are.
Again, you can't have your cake and eat it to, you can't mod your car and expect endless expressions both verbal and written from the vendors that the factory will warranty your car in case of a hiccup related or even i related to your mods.
Mod at your own risk. That being said, your risk and odds are really good with AMS/Alpha performance extrapolated from my experiences.
