Anyone have their chain tensioners replaced per TSB?
I'm curious how long the noise should be for it to be abnormal. My car was built in Oct 2013. On a cold start, I hear some extra noises (?maybe metallic rattle) but goes away after about 3-5 seconds and then next warm startup maybe a second of it, if at all. Already did a search on the board and only two links to something similar, Dflamer had his fixed at about 1000 or 2000 miles.
Likely will ask tech at oil change time if abnormal, seeing what your thoughts were. Only thing on youtube is this (not same engine, but part of TSB):
Thanks
Now that my car has about 18K on it, I am convinced that the noise is back, at least some of the time. There is a metallic rattle for a few seconds on some starts. I have not had the time to completely research it, but it really does sound like the way it did when the car is new.
Except for the fact that it sounds terrible, I am not going to mess with it any further. The dealer did what they felt they had to do. It's a leased vehicle that I will not keep. I was told by the shop foreman that the noise is cosmetic and will not create a major problem. If it does, it will be their problem.
It's important to note that the M157 is not a "sweet" sounding engine, mechanically. It's not ultra smooth, nor quiet, nor sophisticated sounding. Because of this, who knows what other noises are being created by incorrectly functioning components. I'll never know.
Although I did have my creaky pano roof fixed satisfactorily by the dealer, I am not super impressed by my E. I don't dislike it, but I am not in "like" with it as much as I should be. Too many little things.

My E90 M3 makes a similar noise after its been sitting around a while - I've mentioned it to the BMW techs - they say its normal - and BMW does not have a similar TSB fix.
