Will post any more info if there is anything revealed on invoice.
Any difference in s or s+?

sorry, don't use them, I'm either cruising or driving, and if I'm driving I like to control the shifting.

from my service invoice it says "updated the gearbox and ME software, adapted the wet clutch". They said they were aware of some cars that needed transmission updates, but mine wasn't one of them. They did this as 'goodwill'.

I think that this "goodwill" is BS. If your VIN did not call for a software update, it is very unlikely they would give you any updates. They may actually be voiding your warranty in this case. Just think abut it.

There is this hesitation when you are in S or S+ and you're coming to a stop, you do finally stop and then jump on the throttle hard again -- it's like the clutch is slow to engage and stumbles a bit. Several of the '14 S63 folks have mentioned this as well.
I have the 2015 E63 S with the updated MCT and it exhibits the behavior you discuss. Most shifts are fine and smooth. BUT if you are coasting or braking to a stop and are at low speeds and then, before you stop you then apply WOT or even close, the MCT has no idea what to do and has huge hesitation and clunkiness before finally getting it right -- a complete departure from the silky smooth behavior of the ZF 8 speed auto transmission in my 2012 BMW 550xi (the only thing I miss about the 550) or of the PDK dual clutch automated manual transmission in my 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo S.

The update did not cure this issue.

Thanks sdg for your input .... I'll have to test drive the gt-s and see if that new dct does this

Same happened to me as I slowed down to turn left in front of oncoming traffic, when I pressed the gas for a quick turn it did it slowly for a second or two before getting power. This can get dangerous as you cannot trust the car to react as quicly as you would like.

Are the performance specs different? I'll be happy to share 2014 specs... oh, wait -- we have the internet.

AMG
Always found this topic to be a bit interesting.
Digged into this further, comparing P/N’a via Mercedes startekinfo.

All the major components are shared between 14-16

MCT clutches
Clutch housing
Blue cap and black cap hydraulic solenoids
Driveshaft
Multi disk clutchs internally
Both Output shafts
Center gears
Internal and external disks
Oil filter, oil pan etc

The major workings are all shared among all 14-16 MCT w/ 4matic which makes sense, since they drive the same and the TCU information all match.

The electronic hydraulic control unit has changed in terms of P/N between the years. This is 1 P/N with two parts for our trans, the conductor plate and The valve body.
Why the change from benz is anybodies guess. And which, the Conductor plate or the valve body actually changed is yet to be determined since this is 1 P/N for 2 parts.
Since all 14-16 share the same major components, pumps, clutches and solenoids, hard to say if this is a performance update, or likely a reliability update , or a change in supplier.

Some other info to add to the mix:

Here is two forum members cars, I quickly scanned the Trans info using my icarsoft MB V2
As you can see both have the exact same breakdown between the two.

This is a 2014 E63 S 4matic FEB 2014 build

This is a 2015 E63 S 4matic Late 2015 build

Hope this helps put an end to this mystery changes and such.
