HELLCAT

I think this car is going to take lives. Big HP, RWD, low MSRP= trouble. What do you think?https://autos.yahoo.com/news/2015-do...ory&soc_trk=fb

I think:

Nothing really else to say, looking forward to test driving it though; plus id rather have the lower powered caddy cts v in 2016 for $10k more

I agree entirely. Massive power, RWD, so so suspension and a younger group of buyers due to the car's relative affordability should make it have a high accident and death rate. That has been true of cars like the V8 Mustang -- my favorite car I ever owned (owned it during college and law school days).

"Back in the day", I purchased a Cutlass with 350HP, 500 lb-ft of torque and a 3:23 posi. If you floored it from a start, it just sent the rear end sideways. I sold it to a high school kid and it lasted him less than a month before he totaled it. I anticipate the junk yards will be full of Hellcat parts soon.

Definitely lots of trouble once a bend comes up.

$63,000 with a few basic options is a low msrp?

Not that many people below 25 are buying such a car.

I think you would be surprised at the cars you see at some high schools and college frat houses.

For the claimed, "fastest sedan" and at 707hp, I think that MSRP is real cheap. Todays high school and college kids are driving many different BMW'S, Audi's and MB with a close msrp, maybe a little less, but very close. Take a BMW x5 fully loaded or a E coupe(550) similarly equipped and that price is right there, maybe even more, but a third the performance of the Hellcat. I am posting this in the w212 amg where the starting msrp is low 100's, so yes, 63k is low. For that price(compared to my E) I could buy a Hellcat and a $50k truck as a beater. LOL

I have t driven one but from the reviews I've seen I think it's a pretty good deal and it seems they did a good job at making it turn too... Not the usual Go Straight muscle car of the 70's. It will never be a german sedan/coupe and it's not what it's supposed to be either. I would be happy to own one!

After $70k with tax, it's still a dodge and that does nothing for me. Having a Benz marque in the garage helps me validate the purchase.

The Charger Hellcat offers a sick amount of power and torque for a sedan at any price point. But a high horsepower giant very heavy sedan with so so suspension and interior and with all that power being driven through only the rear wheels is not my cup of tea.

It'll be great on the roll or at the airstrip

Yes I'm going to enjoy seeing that beast at some airstrip events this spring summer and fall.

Would be an interesting battle against my E63 S. With the renntech mods I'm getting the E63 S should dominate. It would've been more interesting stock versus stock.

Would not be a very interesting battle against my 911 Turbo S. Especially with all the performance mods I'm doing to it. With that car I'll enjoy taking on the McLaren 650 S, Huracan, 458 and Aventador.

This is a performance bargain that will compete with most tuned 63S from a roll with just a basic stage 1 pulley and tune setup. The Hellcat has shown to dyno anywhere from 616-635rwhp on average and a stage 1 will probably take that power over 700rwhp (dynojet).

Straight line performance bargain ...

again, the average 25 year old in this country has $30k of student loan debt and a job making about $35k. $63k cars are far from the norm.

That said, with daddy's checkbook, things change a bit.

Still, given that the average new car price is like $33k, $63k is not really a low msrp.

If someone doesn't feel a significant difference between the driving experience of a Charger Hellcat and an E63S, I'd imagine they are the perfect market for that car.

seems awfully high of a price for such a car.....wonder how they're built: interior wise, if the material and quality match the price, then it might work out
