Mercedes CLS 63 Biturbo (C218) RENNtech Exhaust Comparison - YouTube
found a good "side by side" comparative video of CLS63. stock vs sport mufflers vs sport mufflers + downpipes.
The last combo sounds really badass... cant say I hear a big difference between stock and SM.

2008 Saab 93 TurboX SC (BSR stage 1)/2014 E63 S Wagon (Rebellion Tuned/Renntech Sport Mufflers)
I got the sport mufflers installed today. Took 30 minutes total.
When they got the car out of the shop, everybody looked to see what was that thing!!
Random initial thoughts:
1- definitely louder in person than what the previously posted video shows
2- does not only increase volume (hard to say by how much, but 30% is a good estimate), it also changes tone of sound... more gutural, as mentionned almost "american V8 like" but in a more sophisticated way.
3- intoxicating to rev and coast in manual mode... who needs the B&O sound system anyways!!
4- after about an hour of driving, I'm still in between... is it too loud on the long run for a DD? I will let myself a couple of weeks to decide on that.
5- it makes the car sound the way it performs
6- reminds me of my C63
7- almost embarrasing to accelerate hard!!
8- on the highway at a constant speed it's really not that intrusive
9- I want to change the exhaust on my Saab and the wife's Odyssey
10- Need to get milk really really far from home after the kids are asleep.
More impressions to come in a couple of days.

That's why I like the flaps on the new w205 c63 exhaust ... Dial in or out the loudness
Would get this if I could dial it out when I needed the beast to quiet the f--- down, lol, like at the daycare car drop off line

Installation question
Hey kart or sdg, do these mufflers bolt on, or do you need to cut and weld? I can't tell for sure by looking at the photos, but looking at my stock system I can't see where it is supposed to connect in based on the product photos.

I didn't do the install but I was told by both the dealer who did and Renntech that they are slip on mufflers with no cutting or welding. They work with the OEM tips. But I certainly can tell you is that once they are slipped on they will make your car a hell of a lot louder with a much much lower pitched sound. This is not a good mod if you want a quiet cabin. I wanted an aggressive exhaust sound and these deliver that in spades.

OK thanks.
Also, is it loud even during cruising? I.e., does it drone when cruising along at say 70 mph? Loud exhaust under load is always nice but when cruising I wouldn't want it to impede conversations.

The stock exhaust system needs to be cut to install the Renntech sport mufflers, which are "bolt ons" on the cut pipe (does not need to be welded). I saw the install process and it's quite scary to see a jigsaw hacking at the exhaust!!
To go back to stock you have to weld the stock mufflers back on. Using clamps to go back to stock is quite difficult according to my installer since the pipe is curved just after the cut...

Also, kart do you feel like it drones when cruising too? Kinda on the fence between these and downpipes.

Ok got it, thanks. I was thinking that cutting would be needed based in looking at the photos. I know what you mean though, I was standing right there when they were hacking off my resonator hahaha. So then they just slip on and don't need clamps?

Then you dont have DRONE, as you definitly know when you have it. It's an unpleasant low frequency booming sound that fills the cabin, usually between 2000 and 2400 rpm. I've become an expert on drone as I had it on a Grand National, SRT8 Jeep and I'm now on my third set of mufflers for the Viper to finally get rid of it. Every exhaust has drone at some point, but manufacturers play with piping size and diameter or add a resonator to get rid of it in the normal operating rpm zone, so if it happens at 8000 rpm you should not know or care about it !

Today I met with Kart125 to listen to the Renntech mufflers live and all I can say is WOW ! What a great sounding exhaust, perfect for the character of the E63.
As per SDG's comment I was expecting a very loud exhaust, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear that altough louder than stock by about 20-30%, it has a very rich and refined tone and not obnoxious at all. Just like when adjusting the sound on a radio, I would say volume is up 2 notches, Treble is down 2 notches and Bass up by 3.
I drove around with Kart's car and the sound from inside is fine and almost quiet when cruising, than loud and muscular when stepping on the gas, but in a $$$ refined way.
Now that I've listened to it, I want this exhaust BAD ! But I'd also like to compare with the AMS catback wich is totally bolt-on, but their video is with a car that has both the catback and catted downpipe. I would like to hear it with just the catback before deciding wich way to go. I've decided not to go with a resonator delete, as I know it will not have that rich bassy tone like the Renntech's have.
My son also came along and recorded both cars side by side to compare with my stock mufflers when both cars are revving. We even recorded a Race Start with each car.
We should have this up in a few days.
To be continued ...

Here's the vid
I have to say the bassy Renntech exhaust overpowers the mic of the camera, so in reality it's deeper and richer than on this vid.

Nice editing! I think it gives a pretty good idea of the difference between stock vs Renntech! Glad you decided to get it also!!

Nice video! The difference vs stock is much more apparent here than in all the others i've heard, including Renntech's own!
