Same with my '15. Price didn't come out til a month or so before build, but order went in 3 months prior. At this price point in the same model generation, I'm guessing the base price difference is negligible for those ordering new.

Good to know. And has dealer updated you on production of your car / when you'll actually get it?

As of last Thursday.
Built on March 27th.
Waiting for shipping confirmation. With a GT that is
Scheduled to ship also. He did show me their zone that they have access too and there were 4 other built. The closes one that's been built with mine was going to Colorado.
I'm following up weekly.

Great info, thank you. And January to late March isn't a bad lead time. Did you do any designo options?

Lenin/Tylbran -- here in NY i've had lots of trouble getting clear commitments from dealers with respect to production dates for MY 2016 e63. Dealer1 claims production begins in June and he can get me a car by July (seems fast), Dealer2 said orders are currently taken into cue but pricing isn't finalized and production date isn't set, Dealer 3 said 2016s are already in production. Any better info?
I ordered a 16 e63 wagon in mid-March and was told that I should expect a delivery in the July to September range. Based on conversations with three different dealers it is my understanding that they did a shortened 15 model year for some reason and the 16s have been in production since last month or so.

Yes on the designo. Paint Cardinal red.
I've told 16' to be short run also.
17 early next year. Amg 6-9 months after release of 17.
Also 17 amg will no longer of current 5.5 engine package
Going instead with unproven as of yet -4.0 New Gt platform. Another reason I wanted The current edgier style vs rounder style coming up in 17?

mb nyc, what kind of a deal are you being offered? I can connect you to a dealer in FL where I got my wagon. They gave me a super deal of MSRP. If interested, PM me for details.

yes agreed, newer won't necessarily mean better!

that makes sense. today i did have dealer confirm that the 2016 ordering guide is out but without pricing and orders can be placed. consistent with everything in this forum. I was quoted Aug-Sep for a Wagon build, Sep-Oct w Designo options...

I have been in contact with my salesperson and as of Monday (Apr 13) the vehicle has been produced and is waiting shipment to Canada (earlier he told me the vehicle was "in the factory" March 24th). My delivery date is April 25th and he is still hoping for delivery in the next 2-3 weeks (so likely early May?). Apparently there have been problems with excessive snow/ice at Halifax that are slowing deliveries of many vehicles. I still do not have pricing for the vehicle and I hope it is not too far of the 2015 pricing. Salesperson says he will update me when the vehicle lands in Canada. I am really looking forward to my new ride!

Any thoughts on window tinting for the wagon? I am used to the rear and back windows with a deep tint on my GLK but it seems that SUV's are normally built that way.

I think what was implied by the designo question was if you got any that would delay production. Cardinal Red and Diamond White, although branded as designo, do not add any time to the build. The other 4 designo paints, designo leather, and designo trim can add 4-8 weeks in production time.

Stupidly in the US it is illegal for an auto manufacturer to sell a CAR with tinted windows. But for trucks and SUVs it is legal. That's why nearly all of the SUVs in America are sold with tinted windows from the B Pillar rearward. Interestingly enough the GLA250 is sold in the US as an SUV which is why it comes with tinted windows, but due to the lower height of the GLA45, it's imported as a car and therefore doesn't have any tinted windows. In Europe you'll find many E Wagons with the optional tinted glass that we can't get here... Anyways to answer your original question I don't have any tint yet but plan to do 3M Crystalline 40% all around with 70% on the windshield. Not sure what percentage or if I want to do the pano roof yet since it doesn't get terribly hot in Seattle.

I will probably do 30% all the way around except the windshield on my wagon when it comes. That is the legal limit in my state. I used to have a Cayenne when I lived out west that had 10% on the front two windows and 5% from the B pillar back (which was not legal). I loved that as I was living in a semi-desert climate then and it really cut down on the heat. Plus the anonymity is sometimes nice with a car that attracts attention. Truthfully as nice as that was I sometimes had trouble seeing out of it at night in dimly lit areas, so I wouldn't likely do that again.

I was notified today that my car will be built the first week of July, with delivery expected six to eight weeks later (possibly sooner). Sounds like your dealer is on track.

FYI I was also notified back in March when I ordered my car that there were 74 builds left for 2016 and of those only 8 were then still available. I am not sure how accurate that information is, though it came from an AMG Performance Center dealer, but it could be that we are running down the clock on 2016s. Just a heads up if you are considering ordering but haven't yet.

Take a look into the 3M Crystalline film. Basically it rejects infrared and UV which cuts down on a lot of the heat coming in. Although 40% is their darkest, it's still decently dark (appears more dark than a traditional tint at 40%). They say the film has 200 layers built into something as thick as a post it note.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. I can't remember what specific film was used on the Cayenne (or my 335 for that matter) but I know it was a 3M product.

My guess is 3M Color Stable which gets you a darker tint but isn't as fancy as the Crystalline. IMO I'd shy away from Ceramic tints which is what some tint shops may try and sell you as you'll run into this problem called "ghosting" when they stretch the film on curves.

Good to know. I never had any trouble with the tint I had applied when I lived out west but when I moved to the midwest I had the 335 retinted at the dealer and whatever they used this time looks ok but is clearly not as good a product.

Hopefully I will hear something soon on my sedan order. I ordered mid March as well, supposedly on the second day the order system would accept orders on 2016 builds.

Had a call from my dealer today regarding the status of my 2016 E63 wagon - I will need to be patient a bit longer. Apparently my vehicle will not be available until Transport Canada has completed their certification and the dealer does not know how long the wait will be. Being one of the first 2016 wagons coming into Canada, I guess the inspectors take their time. He indicated that he has another customer who is waiting for a 2016 AMG GT to be inspected. I suspect delivery will now be June.

It's been a very long wait for you, but getting closer!
My build date is 3rd decade of June, which actually is moved up from initial 3rd decade of July. This was with a 3/17/15 order date for a sedan.

Finally took delivery of my 2016 E63 Wagon June 4th...after an approximate 4 month wait. Can certainly say it was well worth the wait. I can't believe how well this vehicle is put together and of course what a sound. My vehicle is diamond white with silk beige interior. Some pictures ...
