Again the gains were from JUST the intake though. The before test was with the tune and the exhaust and the after was just by adding the intake.

Full details as well as data will be released when the product is.

I get that. However, depending on the tune you are running, the gains from that CAI could fall anywhere on the map. Is it more aggressive timing, AFR, boost or a combination of the three that gets you that 30whp? What about stock?

Not asking for an answer now, I am sure that info will be available when you do release the product...

I guess I am not being clear. The intake was literally installed then dynoed. No special tune was created for the intake. We saw a 1.5psi pressure drop when using our intake... that is where the power is coming from. The stock box chokes the car a bit and benefited from a more free flowing and larger design.

Seemingly well..... Can't wait to see one in person. If it's anything like the intake manifold for the GT-R's this will be nothing short of incredible

That makes two of us.. 5k is just a little too much to throw out the window for most.. Fingers crossed for a low cost. I like the idea someone else posted about a non-carbon fiber option for those of us that just want to go fast without popping our hoods open and showing off although it does look nice. The cosmetic effect of it doesnt excite me the power does....

2k would be nice but something tells me price will be higher. A group buy for the first 10-15 to take the plunge would be nice.

At 5k i wonder how many units Renntech is moving per year. I hope AMS see's the value of making $ based on volume. I know they dont want to give product away and need to make $ but if its priced well I dont see how any car that is tuned could afford NOT to have this. DP, Intake, Tune would be almost a no brainer.

agreed. Price it so you move more of them, rather then sell few at a high mark up.

Either way need to see real gains

Agreed. $5k for 10 bhp is not a good value proposition. I love love love my Renntech tune and sport mufflers (11.1 quarter mile at 127.56 mph) but a $5k airbox with a tiny gain makes zero sense.

I heard the airboxes give about 30whp which is significant power. But I still think for 5k i would keep the $ in my pocket or if im a real speed demon id spend another 2-3 for a turbo upgrade.

$5K for ~5% increase in power is not a bargain. Yes instead just spend a little more for a turbo upgrade and make some real power.

the problem with that math, is that for people that already have a tune only, are already at around 600whp and standard turbo upgrade puts them at about 680whp and cost around 15k- 20K installed (difference in cost depending on if AMS or renntech)

so if you already spend 3K on tune and then spend another 15k-20k on turbo upgrade for gain of 80 whp over your tune, it doesnt make sense to most people...

thats paying $200 per WHP pickup on the turbo upgrade over base whp with tune only

if the airboxs from AMS do produce 30whp for ~5K then that would be only $166 per WHP pickup on the airbox upgrade over base whp with tune only, making it actually more bang for the buck for guys that already paid for tunes

with that being said, i will probably be going with turbo upgrade eventually, but its not because its the most financially sound choice

Very interesting results. My CLS63-S with just a RENNtech tune ran 11.14 @124 mph, similar time but a whole 3 mph slower. I threw on down pipes and sold the car before running it again, I wonder what MPH I would have garnered with the added pipes.

Not a great trap speed. Where did you run it? What was the DA?

Small world, I'm his neighbor over in Heron Bay. Yeah, Parkland has a crazy car scene. Have you seen the P1 in his community? On weekends you see just about every exotic you can think of, just the other day I pulled into the gas station and saw a Noble and Italia filling up What does your buddy drive?

Pricing will be $4395.
If you want to change your centre cover (with name and mb logo) to carbon it will cost another $395, which is very good price. Will be released in a week.
