Sound System
My E63 has been with me almost 10 months now. Perfect car enjoy it every time I drive it. The _only_ let down is its sound system.
To me, the sound isn't very clear on high volume. The bass isn't deep enough and the treble is very high. The sound system doesn't engulf you when listening.
I can adjust the treble and the bass but that's about it. No option to change the mid-range which is bothering me the most.
The system on my 2009 Jeep Cherokee is just perfect. Perfect bass and treble.
What can I do to improve the sound? Upgrade the system or is it the speakers? And does anyone feel the same way I do???

Oh... so you're one of those doof doof guys...
My e63 amg vs Lexus 570 speakers are exactly what you're current scenario is.
Theres bass which the e63 amg offers and nice quality clear speakers, As far as loudness they do go quite loud if you have a good quality file.
The 4wd's have generally more speakers and more inbuilt subwoofers in the back they generally have more bass. I can guarantee you right now if you turn the bass up all the way play a song loud in your jeep the speakers will distort.
Maybe all you need is two subs in the back of your e63 amg + amp and turning the bass down from the headunit and problem solved.

I don't know if the speakers have changed, but in my 2011 E63 I have the same issue. The highs are driving me insane and there is next to no bass. My 2008 Corvette I just traded in had better bass than this, heck my 1999 Corvette had better bass than this. I've tried turning up the bass a little on the slider and maybe I'll try turning the treble down as well.
I've moved all the sliders I could but still nothing. Maybe an 'ok' sound when the volume is low which isn't very often. But heck, there aren't much sliders to move. Only two!!!
I moved bass plus 5 and treble minus 5, that's helping for mp3 disc's. Still not as much bass as I'd like though.

Yeah, the HK stereo ticks me off too. My last car was a cheap Audi, and their low-cost B&O upgrade was excellent, much better than this HK garbage. Really irritating that MB wants $5k for a decent stereo. Grrrrr.
I agree, some aftermarket options would be great.

I installed stereos in a number of my cars years back and alarms, not going through that hassle again and that was before everything was integrated. Probably a Bazooka or other self powered sub would do the job, probably hook into the back speaker wires, but I'm not sure what would happen with power. If the car had battery in the back, it would be a 15 minute job. If the car doesn't have a decent size power wire coming to the back, then it would be a job that I really wouldn't want to bother with.
The BMW M5 lacks the engine power, AWD, acceleration and engine/exhaust noise of my E63 S. That means more to me than the stereo.
