E63S Estate
Purchased the oem E350 and 4matic emblem before I even took delivery of the E63S. $100+ for both, Mercedes is making a killing on them.
I'm not sure what I'm feeling after reading through this post. But I probably still put them on in the next few days.

the need for emblems is all ego and is dominant in this country not in Europe. it is better to know that you have the best and not broadcast it. nothing like driving a 700 hp wagon when you smoke anything on the road in a straight line with 4 kids in the car and no emblems

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
But to come to all these conclusions about my ego because I left the factory applied badges on... Oook

That is one dumb sentiment, ever consider the fact that the rear end looks so nice with only the star??
keeping the badges sounds like small **** thinking the way you put it, and the fact that your 100 K car needs badges makes me think most people just want to show off

but you calling me dumb and suggesting my ***** is less than an appropriate size probably makes for a more interesting thread, so, carry on. tell us more about my cockadoodledo and my obvious stupidity...

haha! i have a pretty seriously customized/modified wagon under the sheet metal for my benefit. but, yeah, no. i don't really hang with people that give a rat's coolie about my car or it's stickers. just as i don't care about your car or it's stickers. my only point is to those who classify their sticker-delete "modification" as a display of modesty. it's is not, in my opinion.
the opinion that the rear of the car looks better without the stickers seems as good as any. but that's not what most are saying in this thread, and it's not what i commented on. i specifically commented on the reasoning behind the delete, and how it seems heavily favored toward communicating a message to others.

what it seems like you're saying is: look at me and appreciate how i've chosen (for the benefit of the people) to fly my $100,000 station wagon under the radar.
that's not the embarrassing part. the embarrassing part would happen just after you explained this debadging philosophy to friends at a dinner party.

"for the benefit of the people"? I assure you... I de-badged the car entirely for my own benefit.
And funny enough, the reason I de-badged is the same reason I *don't* talk about my cars at a dinner party. Maybe I keep the wrong company... but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be to my benefit to be boasting about automobiles I own.
*shrug*
Each to their own, even among the few E63 wagon owners.

I would love to de-badge due to the same reasons as mentioned above by others. However, I hate having to put them back on when it's time to trade-in/sell. I don't even know how and where to put them back on without a template. They will probably be crooked when re-badged without a template. Any suggestions on the re-badging process?

I just debadged my brand new CLS. It came off looking clean with no visible marks on the paint - but its totally visible under ultraviolet light. So, if you don't paint over the car, you may be able to use UV to determine where to place the stencils for placing the badges back on.

Its kind of an understatement thing. Obviously it is a Mercedes. I am certainly not hiding that fact. But the rest is left to those who know…what model is it. I debadged three of my wagons beginning in '99, and since there was only one MB wagon, what the hell. Now I have a different (meaning really different) wagon, most of my friends have no idea about my personal proclivities. Just another wagon. No idea what red calipers mean. I clearly have a fetish about wagons, but I'm not sure I want everyone to know just how serious it is. At least now I don't have to take a load of kids to T-ball, and when I do, it's just my grandkids who love the G's.

but putting an e350 or any other fake badge on your amg is ridiculous. there's such a thing as trying too hard.

E250 Blutec
Got my E250 BT in 2014. My 4th oil burner and the best ever.
Power, comfort, looks. What else can one ask for?
Drove from Quebec to Ct in 10 hrs and was as relaxed as when I started out.
(Yes, the mileage is fantastic too, avg 42.2 at 80mph average).n
My only complaint...no spare tire with the run flats so I bought a spare
tire sans rim and carry it on longer trips, JIC im in the boondocks and the tire isn't available.

Umm, it is a Mercedes-Benz guys. Quite a few drivers can't distinguish between an MB and an Audi. But the reason most of you buy them is so that people will look at you. There are faster, more comfortable and better handling cars out there. The reason to buy an MB is to say "look at me!" Why take off any badges? If anything, add more!

It's a preference thing. I don't there is a general rule one must go by. I like the look on some that are debadge although mine is not. It doesn't mean I like it one way or another.

Buying a MB for me was less "look at me" and more of a fuel efficient small coupe with an automatic transmission and lots of C/R solid red dots.
My 6 speed manual shift Asian coupe: RIP (145,000 miles: it had a good life).
Seriously, a beautiful car (the C250 dummy)

I started this thread and have enjoyed the comments. Since my first wagon in '99 I have debadged each. Not sure why, really, but in any event, my car is well recognized by those who count, from the sound and appearance, even without the badges. Plus, the absence of badges adds a little mystery!
