Well, guys it's Official...

I Picked up a 2014 E63S today, Blk/Blk pretty much loaded up Looks like I will be a fixture here in the W212 section in addition to the W204. Car is the successor to the W211 E55 I sold last year, it is nice to be back in a E-class AMG.

It was a pouring rain, 38F drive back from NJ to CT on summer tires. Even then the car was an absolute monster on the Hutch/Merritt. Then hit evening traffic and got to see how well the Distronic feature worked in stop-and-go 10mph traffic. All in all, very happy with the car. Obviously no pics due to crappy weather but will post up a few when the sun decides to come out.

Thanks!

So I collected 9 quotes nationwide, needed to be a dark colored car with pano (no exceptions). CPO preferred. Got lots of quotes around the $88.5k mark (with Atlanta coming in @93k) but a dealer in IL offered a Designo Graphite CPO with only 5,750 miles for $86k (MSRP $110k). I used that as leverage, some dealers balked, and some came down to meet that number.

The car I ended up with was local to me (NJ), came in at $86k and was the highest original MSRP by far with $118k. 14k miles which is a bit high (average was 10k), but at least CPO'ed so I have until 8/2018 before I need to pull trigger on an ELW.

Man, that's a $31k in MSRP depreciation in one model year

I of course got end of the month (3/30) shenanigans from a few dealers dropping down to $85k ($84k in IL), but at that point mind was made up and between Designo Graphite and Black with the 5-spoke rims, Black won out

Nice work!! See I told you you'd get a great deal.

14,000 miles is nothing and you nearly have a new car warranty with the CPO

Are there new tires on it?? 14,000 on the original tires is pushing the envelope... And how's the brakes? Both pricey items

Thanks, guys! and KarlG best of luck on your 2016 order!

Peter, 2 tires were replaced as part of the CPO re-cert process. I checked tread depth on all four and they should be good for this summer, but will most likely get a fresh set for next summer regardless.

Brake pads also passed re-cert, although on the report they unfortunately do not specify the actual pad thickness. I probably need to find out the minimum thickness needed to pass CPO and go from there.

I am looking forward to not having to worry about pano roof motor replacements, shorted keyless-go handles and the like for at least 3.5 years

Truly awesome... How's the b&o sound system?? Does it really take up trunk space?

Car looks awesome ... Are you going to get a wax or a seal?

Love the five spoke rims... It's the one thing I wish my car had

Peter,

b&o is nice, the surround sound is much better than on the HK (at least what I've listened to on the 507 and non-AMG E-class). Sound quality-wise, need to use high bitrate mp3s and then I can immediately tell the difference from satellite and HD radio. I can't speak to whether it's $5k worth of nice or not

In the space where the spare normally goes, there is a custom subwoofer enclosure and dedicated fuse box for the b&o. It doesn't take up the entire spare area, but enough that there is no way for a spare to fit in there. The spare comes in a Mercedes Benz-labeled cloth bag, and is secured to the trunk space by using 2 of the 4 ring clips in that area. Comically enough, the carabiner clips used to secure the spare to the trunk rings have "Do not use for climbing" lettered on them.

There are some very tiny chips in the paint for the hood, on the bumper not quite as obvious -- can't understand why the PO didn't at least clear bra the front I'm open to suggestions, how best to clean up the front and wrap? We had a clear bra installed on the 507 before it even left the dealership.

Had to get the 5 spoke rims -- had the same style on my E55, although CLS-style is awesome as well.

Looks terrific congrats. A good detailing shop can correct the rock chips and put XPEL On the car. There were some rock chips on my 991 Turbo S from test drives and detailing dynamics in Mineola, NY Cleaned them up and XPEL a wrapped the entire car as well as my entire E63 S.

Those forged five spoke rims are wicked expense... too bad you can't get a wheel/tire package on those now... but they are built to take a beating...

SDG... I'll have to look into adding a clear bra to my car as well.. i've got about 3500 miles on it so far and it's pretty flawless paintwise.. I applied the last coat of meguire's sealer to it recently and that'll get you close and personal to your car and it's paint "flaws" ..

I think Ztech by me in Naperville will do a clear bra.. will check the pricing -- good tip

Thanks for the tip! I will PM you separately for contact info. Mineola is not that far into LI at all, don't mind the trip to have it done right.

Thanks guys for the kind words. Weather sucked today and I will be in the city (NYC) most of day Saturday for auto show, etc. -- so hoping for Sunday to get some additional pics of car, as well as trunk and engine bay

I picked up the Tire&Wheel package sold by the dealership (all MB dealer accepted) for 3 years. I looked at an invoice for a brand new forged wheel and it was $2395

Finally got good weather over the weekend and updated pics to include engine bay and trunk so you guys can see how much space the B&O equipment takes up in the spare tire area.

Peter / unagi : have you guys had any issues driving the car around cold weather areas. unagi i see you're in ny area -- i'm worried about cracking rims driving it around city with all the rough roads and potholes. Not that i wouldn't have wheel+tire protection, but i don't want the headache. do the forged wheels actually help protect from having problems?

I have pretty smooth roads around me in the Chicago burbs but these rims aren't made of kryptonite ... They'll bend and crack... I have the base Benz 19" rim and the the forged will hold up better but you might have to exercise that tire wheel package ... I bought that too

thanks Peter -- i certainly don't expect them to be bulletproof. but i was more curious if they were prone to problems / if people who lived in the area had frequent issues or not
