Distronic Plus turns off

Distronic Plus turns off
Twice yesterday I was driving with distronic plus and about 10ft from stopping in back of a car, it decided to turn off. Has anyone else had this happen? If I hadn't hit the brakes immediately, I would have had an accident.
It also stops me much closer than I'm comfortable with in back of other cars.

Found the distr plus unsafe in my previous to e550 vehicles and therefore opted not to get it in the E63
Had the exact same thing happened to me multiple times when I had the 550

I have it both my cars and use mine in traffic all the time. I made sure I got an E that had it after experiencing it my C63. Only time it has been inoperable is when there was snow/ice buildup.
Robl45 - I honestly think your system has something wrong with it since this isn't your first issue with the Distronic. It should absolutely follow the car in front of you to a stop without issue, and a tap on the gas or cruise stalk should start you up again. I would take this to a dealer if your under warranty and have them address this safety issue.

It does work as you describe most of the time, although it stops on top of the car, like way less than a normal person would stop and I don't drive normal and it stops closer than I would stop. This is in traffic on normal streets so not what its made for, but even when driving home from chicago on the highway through atlanta, traffic came to a standstill and I just about rear ended the car in front of me. I'm thinking it works but not quite the way its supposed to unless this is normal.
To me if I"m coming up on a car fast, it should be beeping and braking me, not beeping when I'm about to hit the car waiting for me to hit the brakes.
