Got the red start button

Now that I see the way it is for Americans, I can understand why some would go black and never look back.

Stick-ons and Overlays
I am reviewing this conversation and trying to resolve my issue with why people would opt for overlay or stuck on. This is a $100k machine, this isn’t a an easy bake oven. The things people will do to achieve a certain aesthetic at the expense of their car’s integrity boggles my mind. It sends a mixed message “My car goes zero to sixty in sub 4 seconds....but push the start button and I can make you a cupcake for the ride.” The last time I had to mess with an overlay or stick-ons was for a scrap book project...when I was in 6th grade. I rode a bike then.

Pretty old thread to bump with negativity, got an email notification so I might as well throw in my thoughts. A red stick on start button doesn't change the integrity of the car in any way, it is a personal taste and preference. These cars are full of gimmicks and owners simply choose to add another one. Look at some of the options offered from the factory today, exterior carbon fiber package, night styling package, amg logo projectors to the ground and add on spoilers that are attached with tape. Stuff that was done years before it was oem, so if its not from the factory its wrong? Give it a few more years and benz will offer a red start button as an option. Most owners never track their benz yet they choose to add diffusers, front lip and spoilers purely for the design aspect completely ignoring the added drag/downforce and that is perfectly fine because it looks nice. Those are my thoughts and for me the line is crossed when an amg badge is added to a non amg car, those people are demons.

Nice mining up of an old thread. For what it's worth -- my $10 eBay red start button still looks great. No one has ever commented on it, but I like it. $10 well-spent.

Good man. I scan around here. I guess I don't post too much. Mostly on benzworld dealing with my 126 cars. I think u and I are the only ones who still have our cars from way back
