I just bought my first Mercedes, a 2010 e63 black on black with only 40k miles. It's got 19" chrome rims, three spoke steering-wheel and Nav so it seems fully loaded to me. Anyway, first things first I'm sorry I wasn't able to find all my questions regarding this car on previous threads so please bear with me. Here it is:
1- Normally I drive with comfort mode on. Fuel economy is a lot better but it never shift to first gear (not even uphill) and the tranny is a bit rough at low speeds. Is this normal?
2- I have an iPhone 6 and I can pair with COMMAND for phone and stream music functions (although it does not show me anything other than 'device is paused' nor I can skip songs with any button but audio does work fine). So while the car is running both phone and audio works but if I shut down and start the car the phone will reconnect and still work but audio won't work anymore, under Audio I have the option to "connect to last device" but it tries for about a minute and says "Connection unsuccessful" even though phone is already connected and working. To get it to work I have to un-pair and pair it again which only works until next time I shut down the car again :/ Do you know anything I can do to fix this?
Thank you so lot!

Yeah it's normal for Comfort to always start in 2nd gear. That's one of the reasons why it's more economical than Sport.
I do find that the downshift into 2nd is a little rough but the downshift into 1st is quite horrid. Been meaning to see the dealer about it but can't be bothered. Maybe I'll do it before I go on vacation.
Curious to hear other peoples thoughts on the transmission downshifts...is this normal? upshifts and downshifts at gear 3 and above are smooth and perfect btw.

Mine does the same. It seems to be common. If you take a look at older threads there were many who had the same issue.
Thanks guys I really appreciate it. Any comments about streaming from a iPhone 6?

2010 wasn't meant to stream, there is an update I believe if you can get the dealer to do it.Originally Posted by n0cud06

Just try to reset the adaptations you can do this at home and then drive it for 200 miles so relearns your driving style usually this is the solution

In comfort mode at low speed and when the car is stopped, you can still force it into 1st gear by pulling on the left paddle. You can also reset the TCU by disconnecting the negative terminal overnight on the battery.
