Sorry, no solid hints here. Although I think I remember reading that it can be simply installed with a good 3M double back tape??

Anyway, we want to see pics when its done and hopefully a how to after you master its installation.

How much did it run you?

Cheers

Paid $498 shipped. What concerns me is I was told the rear bumper cover has to come off. I don't think the diffuser installs with double-stick tape; maybe the front lip. We shall see....

had to have my rear bumper off to install a vorsteiner diffuser back when I had my E63, was pretty simple to remove the bumper, not that I did it mind you, the guys at the indy shop knew just how to handle it......
I still have that thing too, but not the car lol

looking forward to seeing it installed

I personally do not know what it looks like but we have done plenty of cars to give you some tips.

Removing the bumper makes for an easier installation. It makes for a more accurate line up. Always do a test fit first before applying anything. There might be some tabs or bolts to secure. Make sure everything is clean and wiped before using the double sided tape. That's all I can offer for now.

i drive them all, fast and hard
http://www.renntechmercedes.com/inde...-rear-diffuser

click on the cls version, as the E class version is for the wagon

ive installed the rw carbon renntech diffuser on daviddouchbagkuos car and its not difficult at all.

i have not installed mine yet simply because I am waiting until the paint cures completely on my new bumper before I clearbra the back.
then i will install it.

if u have access to a lift, that will help, ive used rhino ramps and its fine, a little cramped when installed my euroteck and the rw renntech.

wait, did u buy the vorsteiner look model or the renntech model?

if its the vorsteiner, i assume it just has tabs...hyp has pics of his install, and can post them if he chooses that may help

Yes, Vdubpower help installed the Renntech "style" diffuser on my AMG and I'm sure "he" thinks he did a great job. Lol.

Maybe my English is bad, but having a hard time understanding why you need to wait for your new bumper to dry to install the diffuser? So now your changing your story and the bumper needs to be remove to properly install the diffuser without the gap that you saw on my car? What does clear bra your bumper have to do with installing your diffuser? You helped with my old diffuser install, did we do anything to my bumper during the install of my old diffuser? Clearly you don't care about face.

Kinda funny now that you mentioned the bumper needs to come off to install the diffuser. When Vdubpower was helping me install my old RW diffuser, he mentioned your the only guy he knows who had a Renntech diffuser installed, but failed to mentioned the thing about the bumper needs to come off, but instead says 3M double side tape will fix the gap. LMAO.

I'm guessing Vdubpower wants to wait for his bumper to dry to put on clear bra so when the bumper is remove, it would not scratch his new bumper. Oh, did I mentioned the bumper needs to be removed to properly install the diffuser. I've seen more than 1 pro shop says the bumper needs to be remove to install the diffuser in which RW and Vdubpower failed to mentioned before I made the purchase and install. Humm, is that the reason I saw the gap on the old diffuser and complaint about it ?

Hi Mike. The bumper needs to come off to properly align the diffuser to the bumper taps. If your a guy who doesn't care about the gap as you probably saw on my old RW Renntech diffuser, then you don't need to remove the bumper.

If you do care about the gap, I would strongly recommend you take it a professional shop to do the install because there are sensors that needs to be disconnect and then reconnected on the bumper. It's about a $400 job if I remember right, but then again if you care about the gap between the diffuser and bumper and you don't do modifying your car for a living, it well worth the money. Good luck.

One last thing. For you guys that bought or thinking about buying a RW diffuser, make sure you get the metal clips that clips the diffuser taps to the bumper tap holes. Without the clips, removing the bumper would make no sense because these mental clips that came with my Renntech diffuser had the clips and that is what is needed to align the diffuser to the bumper. No 3M tape is gonna fit the gap.

Here is the diagram for the rear bumper for those of you with the preface AMG E63. Got it from my buddy that owns a Mercedes dealer, so the info. is from a Mercedes dealer.

While, I'm at it. Here is the diagram for the front bumper.

Hope this helps.

FYI. No 3M double sided tape is needed. You need to have I think 6 metal clips that clips the diffuser taps into place of the bumper tap holes on the bumper thus requiring the removal of the bumper. I think I still have the metal clips somewhere in the gardge that I can take photos of and post if you guys think that'll help. I am some what an expert when it comes to diffuser so be sure you have these metal clips before install or you will have a gap between the diffuser and bumper. These metal clips came with my Renntech diffuser and they are required for aftermarket diffusers.

Sorry for the bad cell photo, but this is the metal clips I'm talking about.

No 3M tape of any kind is going to replace these metal clips folks and removing the bumper is require to clip the diffuser to the bumper. Renntech removed my bumper to install the diffuser so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I had to learn the hard way, you don't want to take my old route.

Renntech removed your bumper to install your imaginary diffuser yet renntechs own instructions show the bumper doesn't need to come off?

Where did I say the bumper needs to come off?

Mile pm me so we don't have to have this troll with his imaginary diffuser intervene.

Can I mention how bad my English is:

You said the bumper does NOT need to come off, but instead 3M tape is needed.

You are best bud with Renntech and they told you bumper removal is not required to install a diffuser? Where does the metal clips I picture comes in place?nyou saw the metal clips, where do they go and how?

Took car to my independent guy. Took us 2+ hours. Rear bumper cover MUST be removed. It's a real sweet piece, lots of good comments. Great time to clean and polish exhaust tips while bumper cover is off. Here are a couple of crappy photos.

Saw this so had to comment. I originally paid $700 and was NOT told you had the remove the rear bumper which is a $500 job, but I got a real Renntech diffuser so I'm good to go.

I was not, but am an expert now, if you don't mind the gap, rear bumper has to be removed to line up the diffuser taps. If you got a CW diffuser and not the metal clips like you get from Renntech, you should be concern.

Here we go again. Did you ask renntech why on their own instructions from their website why it doesn't day take the diffusers off.

Obviously it seems install might be better with it off with bumper off but your description of the clips makes no sense. There are 11 tabs yet only 4 clips which in the renntrch instructions days they are to be used with the screw's for the fins.

Why do you keep calling them cw by the way
