I hate the Pirellis due to wet traction when they wear down to half thread or lower (which could be in 7k-15k miles). They flat out SUCK in the rain.

I am on General G-Max tires and they grip as well as the Pirellis yet have outstanding wet weather traction, even better than the Michelins I used to run on my E55

TonyC. Yes, the Ventus V12 was quieter than the OEM wheels, but it was on now gone W212 E350. Had the V12s ( with 90% thread life ) put on the E63 for less than 3-4 months before they where shot.

IMO. The PSS is allot quieter on the E63 and it does grip better though I can still spin the wheels at will because of my tune even in C model.

OP: I assume you were on Ventus V12 (with the mentioning of hancooks, 20's, etc.) were they quiet?

I'm thinking about swapping out these Pzeros to something quieter/longer lasting. PSS is totally out of my consideration.

Another vote for the Michelin PSS...it was like going from all season tires to summer tires when compared to the PZero. A whole different world of grip and comfort!

What size? Because the rear stock size in PSS is only available as a run flat for the corvette stingray. The fronts are available as non-run flat

They may get noisy, if so I'll get rid of them but as of now with 6k miles on them they are quieter than my Michelin were (albeit they had 15k miles)
I cannot honestly tell if they grip as well or worse than the Michelins, but in the rain they are awesome

Thanks for this. Anyone else with experience with the Bridgestone S-04 Pole Positions? I'm also having trouble finding the Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Continental DW should be added to that list. It's WAY better than the Conti 5p. It's as close to a super sport as you can get but at a much lower price and always readily available.

Just run the fattest rubber you can up front and it will handle awesome

My Pirellis are finally in nead of replacement. To my surprise it's the front rubbers ont the 4matics that are toasted. Rears are still good but I had a nail in one of them and even with plug it's slow leaking. I'm on my winter setup for another 2 months but I like to plan ahead and have new rubbers in garage well in advance.

As stated earlier I'm a big fan of Michelin's PSS tires. I've read a lot about the upsize to 295 necessary in the back since they dont make 285's in our sizes...

I only have one concern about 2014+ cars since they are 4matic. By changing ever so slightly the wheel radius in the back, will it throw the 4matic system out of sync? I've seen a lot of posts with no issues but it was on pre 2014 cars where the front wheels could not care less about what the rear wheels are doing.

Anybody with a 4matic tried the PSS?

Actually by going wider to the 295 tires, the front and rear tire sizes are actually closer in rolling diameter than the stock 285.

I know but since it was not "engineered" like that will it cause issues?

It is my understanding that the tolerance for the difference in rolling diameter between the front and rear is up to 2%. In the stock format, the difference is 1.1%, while increasing the width to 295 will decrease the difference to just 0.2%.

I have read about this before in an article on AWD systems and their impact when needing to replace one or more tires. Having different rolling diameter can possibly cause damage to the system, depending on how the system was originally engineered. Personally, I would like to stick with oem diameter but I also "chicken" out most of the time.

Plus the warrantee too, if something went wrong with the drivetrain even unrelated it would probably be blamed on putting 295's on the rear instead of the the OEM 285's, just my take from experience with these sort of things.

I would not worry about a slight diameter difference of less than 3 % at all.
The factory engineers have to take into account differences between a fully inflated vs an underinflated tire, full thread vs a bald tire, using the spare tire etc....
