Correct me if I am wrong But the e63 has over a 100tq more than the M5.
And other than the Veron I am not sure who else runs anything around 600tq on a DCT.

Moving to the 4.0TT V8 will let Mercedes get back into DCT and the likes because of the lower torque. For those of you that think DCT is all that, Have you actually driven/owned one? Its a nightmare in a commute, as in its redonkylous. I would take a 2008 MCT over it in traffic.

And Otakki the cost of the Verons gearbox is around $230,000.00 so let that sink in for a second. $230k to handle 1100tq . The E55 was capable of handling that stock.

 

I believe the dct's in commuter cars like Acura and jeep have torque converters on them because of the unpleasant jerkiness in bumper to bumper traffic

 

Surprising to me that no one has mentioned what impact to exhaust sound will be with 4 litres.

My NA 6.2 litre sounds awesome.

I gotta think dropping down to 4.0 litres is gonna sound more like a sewing machine.

Maybe fast as h*ll. but sound?

So assuming this is a 4.0 litre, because I am not fully versed on all years and models currently, I have to honestly say my exhaust sounds better.

With that said, the exhaust in the clip you just pointed out isnt bad. Mine just sounds a bit throatier and primal if you know what I mean.

What is under the hood of the 2015 c63? 4.0 or 5.5.

It does sound healthy for sure.

I just love the sound of mine. Truly sounds like good ol' detroit muscle! Everybody That has heard Eva makes comments on how good she sounds. Even my totally non car enthusiast wife commented on how she sounds like a hot rod in a hollywood movie.

Maybe my previous owner made a mod I am not aware of?

Agreed -- nothing will sound as throaty as the n/a 6.2 liter v8....
But for a 4.0 engine that's turbocharged ... This ain't bad

 

Yeah I just wonder what they are going to do to make the E63 faster than the C63 and the S63 faster than the E63 or all of the just as fast. As an interesting side note, I think the less that 4 liter displacement is at least partly due to China where they have a high tax for a displacement greater than 4 liters.

I concur -- that sound is king. Although the 5.5 and 4.0TT engines are not that far off...

 

The 5.5tt with down pipes is a sound force to be reckoned with
...watch the whole thing... The sound when he accelerates

Can't beat large displacement combined with naturally aspirated in terms of sound. However, AMG has done a good job with the 4.0's sound. With the way things are going, it is commendable for AMG's efforts on that. Certainly way better than other automakers that simply slap on the band-aid thru the car's speakers, ie BMW.

It does sound very good. Almost a bit too loud though if you know what I mean. No subtlety to it AT ALL! Lol

I was left appreciating these big open highways in N Cali! That was a whole bunch of noise for less than a 1/4 mile of travel. Hahaha

This also sounds very loud. Personally, I dont equate decibels (sound pressure level) with great exhaust sound. I mean if one just wants loud, there are all kinds of tricks with the exhaust right?

I did like the quality of the "purr" in idle though. It was really nice.

I guess for me, the perfect combo is a subtle roar and yet still demonstrate elegance of a high end luxury car. Enough for people to know there might be something scary under your head, but they look and go "naaah, its a 4-door Benz".

Then they decide to test what the reality is. OOOOOOPS!

I guess grampa's 4 door is faster than my camero. Lol
