Newbie considering 2013 E63 AMG Wagon...
#26
I moved from a V70R Volvo wagon to a 2014 E63S wagon. I have never owned a better car - reasonable mileage and unreasonable fun. The only drawback has been the low ground clearance. Last summer I rented a house in La Jolla with a "garage under" and couldn't get the car into the garage without bottoming. I purchased an Audi SQ5 (very similar to the Macan) as a second car to drive on really bad roads. While a nice car, it really makes me appreciate the power and storage capacity of the E63S.

2013 SL63, 2014 E63S Estate, 1995 300ZX Twin Turbo (gone but not forgotten), 2015 SQ5
We loved both V70R's. However, times and technologies change - the E63S handles and rides better, is much faster and costs a lot more (the V70R's were in the mid-40K's). Both have terrific seats and are great long distance drivers.
If you are asking about the Audi SQ5, it is a fine car. 0-60 in the low 5's, comfortable (seats not quite as good as the E63S), gets comparable mileage (about 1-2 mpg better but 200 less HP), and doesn't hold quite as much in the back but costs about $35-40K less. The E63S handles like a big sports car and accelerates like one as well. The SQ5 is fun to drive but needs another 100-200HP. We tested about every sporty SUV in the market (including the ML63 - now readers don't flame me) and felt the SQ5 was the best combination of ground clearance, comfort, handling, luxury and acceleration for the money.
Remember, the SQ5 is our second car. The 300ZX twin turbo is our toy. As much as I love the Z (I have only put 40K miles on it in 20 years), technologies do change. The Z is not that much faster than the SQ5 and much slower than the E63S.

Thanks Richard. Good viewpoints... This 2013 E63 Wagon is not an S but seems to have enough power. I love the interior Vs. the SQ5.
Here's the one I am looking at. Remember its all in Kms and CNDs.
http://autoformco.ca/inventory/view?id=1083
14,448 Kms = 9030 miles
$88,800 CNDs = $68,376 USDs
Thoughts anyone, fair price for a low mileage car?
Thanks again in advance...
Joel

I'm not an expert on AMG pricing. What I can say is that an E63 Estate for $68K US sounds like a lot of car for the money if it has not been in an accident or returned as a "lemon". Does it have an extended warrantee? I understand that the parts for these cars are very expensive. We have 10K miles on our 2014 and it hardly feels like it is even broken in.
Remember that the 2013 is RWD and could be a handful in the snow. Our 2014 is AWD and I love the ability to just "floor it and go" without having to worry about traction. However, here in AZ we don't have to worry much about snow!

Tx for the heads up on the RWD. I was aware of it and it drives like a large heavier sports car that is "tossible" in the corners. Quite fun and I see guys track them here. It would be nice to have AWD for the winter rainy months. We get very very little snow here and I generally don't drive anything super nice if we do as people here just don't know how to drive in it. So parked it would be in that kind of weather.
It does have some factory warranty left and I can purchase an extended. Would not do the deal without it as it looks expensive to repair, not that I have found a whole lot of problems with them in this Forum.
