Car seats
For those of you with young children (mine is two) what car seats are you using in your wagon? Any trouble getting a specific seat to fit?
I have one of the new Britax Advocate seats and had trouble getting it to sit correctly in the steeply raked seat of my BMW 335. I'm picking up my wagon today (!!!!!!!!!) and am just wondering what the community has to say on the subject.

We are in the same boat! Just got our wagon last week and looking at getting some new car seats.
In the short term we are just trying to figure out how to protect our Designo leather in the back seat... For now we purchased car seat pads that protect the immediate area where the carseat makes contact. However, my goal is to find something to cover the entire lower part of the back seat. No luck so far - suspecting we may need to have something custom made.
As far as carseats we are taking a hard look at the Diono brand.

The Diono Radians are good for toddlers because they are narrow. You could potentially fit three across if you needed to.
For me, I love the Recaro Pro Sport. Easy to install and looks sporty too
It converts from a toddler seat to a booster later.
I have two in my W212 Wagon, which renders the middle seat useless, but nobody would sit there anyways.
The Pro Sport can be found for < $200.

Keep In mind that when you put car seats in the back it mat permanently deform the leather if they are always being used. The traditional car seat pads are not that protective against this.
My kids are way more important than my leather but just be aware

I use a Summer Infant Car Seat Pad (from Amazon) and then put a folded up towel under it.
I removed the car seats last night and there was minimal leather deformation.

my wife buys a brand called greyco I think........they're not super expensive ones, but very durable, the iso clamps under the seats are awesome! they click in and out so easily....
and YES, I also use a towel under the seats to prevent the seat stamp on the leather and I also use it as a wedge sometimes to give the seat just a bit more alignment
good luck! nothing like having little ones.......I love them more and more it's insane

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
With all my cars, I keep some sheets/blankets in the trunk and fold them up to relieve pressure points when I run out of trunk space and start putting things on the backseats.

I found that those non adjustable head rests took most of the deformity ... A heat gun softened the dents and then I applied leather conditioner

Before Mercedes. I had my M3 and M6's back seat cover in seat cover which covers the entire back seat. The reason being babies got to eat when they are hungry no matter where they are or what time it is. The seat cover not only protects the seat from sun tan, it protects the seat from dried up under the car seat left over food/drink.

Right now I have a diono cambria high back booster and a recaro. The booster does touch the headrests. The recaro fits perfect, but I'm about to replace it soon. We had the Diono Olympia, but then got the rainier. Both of those fit good, but the Olympia didn't have cup holders, and the rainier still doesn't have armrests, but we have one sitting around so that's what the youngest one gets. I know either of the dionos will fit three across and not screw with the headrests. Same with the recaro. My wife's car has a britax frontier and I've used it once in the wagon and with a little work, it also clears the headrest. And I agree with Peter, that some seats do leave permanent indentations in the seats. Maybe not after a week, but keep them torqued tight for a year and you'll see them. Our infant advocate seat had these really sharp pressure points, so when you pulled those belts n the anchors tight, it'd really dig in the seat. I used to just put a towel down on top of a full baby seat cover and that did the trick. But now moving up to convertible seats, the pressure points aren't as bad. Seems like the bottoms are mainly flat. Plus with some seats that barely clear the headrest, once you add a towel to the seat cover, it no longer fits under the headrests. Anyways, congrats on the wagon, can't imagine a better kiddie mobile. And sorry if this is more about car seats than you ever hoped to know.
