Pufftrees E63 NA
I found a few and looked for a bit. Honestly I was close to pulling trigger on c63 but this particular e63 was calling my name. It had a good history and low mileage and warranty. I'm glad at this point I went with e63 because you see much less of them modified and I like the pano roof and other more luxurious features... while still being able to lay down some nasty **** with that engine.
So I guess it was mainly availability in my search but I'm happy I went with the w212.
I can't wait to get more HP on this bad boy, fully stock now performance wise (except for res delete which is basically nothing). I haven't even put my ROW boxes on because I haven't seen a lot of dyno's comparing with NA, then ROW box, then I'll have tune. Assuming everything is healthy to start.
I've had Eurocharged tune on my 500 and 55 and its fantastic on both. If I didn't already have a tuner I would go with the Eurocharged v5 tune.
Having said that, ESS tuning is down the street and my friend owns/runs it. They are entering the market soon. I am going to go down there for a dyno tune. Similarly if I was going to gput on supercharger I would go with ESS over Weistec. I will most likely keep this car NA though.

So I wasn't able to dyno before and after the ROW but oh well. The car does burble and pop slightly more than before, and perhaps is a little louder. The real benefit of the airbox will be seen when I go get car tuned.
Excited! Hopefully within a couple weeks.

Are you going to get the car decatted and then do the tune? That's the best bet for the highest gains and to get the most from your tune.
Ideally...if your friend can give you a precise dyno tune rather than a box tune, you'll see eve better gains with the tune and decat.
Keep us posted and please do a before/after if you're feeling generous

Long tubes into xpipe with res delete is the long term plan, with either hfc or no cats. Starting with xpipe and tune though most likely.

I finally installed some extra knock for my stereo system by installing the kicker box and amp in the trunk as seen below. This was taken out of my CLS. There is also a bass knob by the center console. This really compliments the stock HK system very well, as it did on my previous car. The amp is drilled down next to the spare, and the box itself can be moved easily. Sounds great

I can't really compare because I don't have a lot of experience driving a stock E class setup. I will say that it rides less comfortably then my CLS-55, but more comfortably then my CLK500. Overall it rides amazing! Never had a complaint about the ride comfort... unless I'm on sport 2 and the road gets bumpy.
But I do live in Phoenix and (most of) the roads are all perfectly flat and nice
You mentioned secondary cats btw - I'm 99.99% sure that the E63 only has one set of cats. I'm planning on doing the high-flows when I add the long tube headers.
If anyone needs a custom exhaust shop here in Austin, TX I can't say enough good things about the guys at Muffin Muffler btw.
Right now I got a new problem I'm dealing with. This past week on startup the car was making this strange rattle noise. At first I thought it was exhaust (kind of sounded like a cheap exhaust or something rattling) so I took it to my exhaust shop. Up on the lift we couldn't see anything wrong with exhaust. I did some searching and found a similar video of a guy with a 2010 e63 that was making the same strange noise... he discovered it was a loose cam shaft belt tensioner.
My main autohaus is looking at it now and they confirm it may be a belt tensioner, but really only the dealer has the tools to fix that. So let's see where this saga leads us

Still going to get together with my friend at ESS tuning whenever I am free, can't believe I've had this car so long without a tune! But man its so enjoyable.
